Despite the busy Christmas and New Year's period, our stay was cosy, quiet, and all around lovely. The room was larger than expected and we had everything we needed for a relaxing visit to Tocumwal. Thanks to the staff!

Needed a vacuum and good clean. No microwave dishes, no saucepan or frypans. No utensils apart from knives, forks and spoons. Good beds and pillows. Good location.

The listing is very confusing s the motel is actually called Kanimbla, not Birch Motel. We never had the opportunity to try the food, but the room was quiet and clean enough. There was no internet available.

Place is now called something different to what's advertised. The sheets and towels were clean and receptionist nice however rooms need a big refresh. Our AC didn't work floors were very dirty, tv standing up on a random dusty old box as broken and wires all twisted around a hook on bedside. We ended up not staying the night :(

Good safe basic option for a stopover. No frills, but clean & easy walk to town. If the pool is important to you, suggest you phone ahead to check, as it was in need of maintenance when we stayed in first week September.

1st room offered had a faulty shower door that was jammed and could not be opened. Next room offered was a disabled room with dirty stained carpets and dirty shower curtain. Only 1 pillow per person, TV, when finally operational, only had 1/3 of channels with sound. Overall very disappointing stay

Derelict motel

The property I booked did not exist!!! The name had been changed. It was derelict!!! When we drove into the back of the property it was overgrown and dirty. There was some one living in one of the rooms. The front of the property was boarded up so there was no entrance. The address was wrong as the property was given a back street address when it faces the main road. Do not book this property!!!! I wish I had taken photos to show what happens when Hotels.com doesn't keep up to date with its appraisal of listed properties and does not inspect or validate photos.

On arrival no reception. It was locked up. Had to phone a number, got answering machine. Return call came from presumed manager who didn't know we had a booking. Had to tell them i booked through one of the booking sites linked to motel. Got key for a room out of locked safe. Door to room was jammed had to virtually kick it in to get in. Shower door opens onto bathroom door, had to close bathroom door to open shower door. Very squeezy. Whole motel & room needs maintenance & tlc. Pool green, bbq area filthy, bbq needed a big clean. If it wasn't for a No Refund policy we would have left! Positive side, room was big. Liked having an extra long bench, kitchenette with sink & all the appliances. Won't be back until it is fully renovated! Looks like Bates Motel atm. Also no manager or staff on duty at all even through the night. We were the only guests that stayed!
