The best area to stay in Tlaxco is generally in the town centre, particularly around the main square, Plaza de la Constitución, and the surrounding streets.

This area is the heart of Tlaxco, known for its historic architecture and the impressive Parish of San Agustín. You'll find a good selection of small hotels and guesthouses, often housed in renovated historic buildings. The central area is very walkable, making it easy to explore the local artisan shops, cafes, and traditional restaurants.

Couples often find this central location ideal for a romantic getaway. Strolling through the historic streets, enjoying the local cuisine, and visiting the nearby haciendas for a taste of regional history are popular activities. The proximity to the Parish of San Agustín and the municipal palace adds to the historical appeal.

For those looking for a more tranquil experience, some of the restored haciendas just outside the town centre offer a unique stay. These properties provide a peaceful escape with spacious grounds and often feature traditional architecture and local dining options.

For the most pleasant weather and to fully enjoy outdoor activities, the best time to visit Tlaxco is during the dry season, which runs from October to May.

During these months, you'll experience mild temperatures and abundant sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the town's historic centre, visiting the nearby pulque haciendas, or taking a stroll through the local markets. The lack of rain means you can comfortably wander the cobblestone streets and enjoy the outdoor terraces of cafes and restaurants without interruption.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will particularly appreciate visiting between October and December. The air is crisp, and the town often has a festive feel as it prepares for holiday celebrations. It's great for cosy evenings and exploring the craft shops.

For those interested in outdoor adventures like hiking or horseback riding in the surrounding forests, the months of March to May offer slightly warmer temperatures before the rainy season begins.
