The best area to stay in Thea is the Old Town, particularly around the Plateia Syntagmatos. The Old Town is Thea's historic heart, characterised by narrow, winding streets, neoclassical architecture, and a central square, Plateia Syntagmatos, which is often bustling with activity. You'll find a good selection of boutique hotels, traditional tavernas, and shops tucked away in its pedestrianised lanes. The harbour is also just a short stroll away. For couples looking for a romantic escape, the Old Town is ideal. Its intimate streets, charming eateries, and proximity to the waterfront for evening strolls create a lovely setting. Many hotels here offer balconies with views of the historic buildings or the sea, great for enjoying a quiet morning coffee.Families might prefer the areas slightly outside the immediate Old Town, closer to the beachfront promenades such as Akti Miaouli. Here, you'll find hotels that often have more space and amenities suitable for children, with easier access to the beach for swimming and play.

The best time to visit Thea is typically during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October). These periods offer pleasant weather with warm temperatures and less intense heat than the peak summer months. You'll find the landscape lush and green in spring, and the sea is still warm enough for swimming in early autumn. The crowds are also generally thinner, allowing for a more relaxed experience at archaeological sites and beaches. Many hotels and restaurants are fully operational, but you won't face the high demand and prices of July and August. For those who enjoy a lively option and don't mind warmer temperatures, July and August are also popular, though busier. This is when Thea truly comes alive with festivals and events, and all tourist facilities are in full swing. However, expect higher prices and more people at popular spots.Ultimately, the best time depends on your priorities. For comfortable sightseeing and fewer crowds, aim for May, early June, September, or October.
