When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. The whole ranch was excellent! We actually stayed in The Law Office cabin. The hosts were very nice and attentive! They responded immediately to every text. The views in the morning and at night were breathtaking. If you are in the Terlingua area, definitely book a cabin at Ten Bits Ranch! Nails the old west town feel and while there aren't a ton of amenities, the shared kitchen is one we will be back for next vacation with the kids and family. Has a summer camp vibe I loved but with air conditioned room, hot water, and a comfortable room. Not too far from Terlingua and big bend national park. Roads can be a bit white knuckle after dark, but that's everywhere in this part of Texas.
