The atmosphere was fun and the night sky was incredible. If you want to almost unplug this is the place for you! While you still have electricity, heat/AC, hot showers, wifi etc. you can sit on the porch in silence and truly reset. While it IS way out there it is definitely worth it. Enjoyed the sunsets from the rocking chairs on our porch. I was initially weary of the shared kitchen/common area, but it was lovely and may have been one of my favorite parts. It was well decorated and clean, and it was cool to meet fellow Big Bend visitors. Location is secluded, which we loved, but it was an easy drive to groceries and Big Bend. Room was very clean and well stocked with lots of towels and bottles of water. I really can't think of a single thing wrong with our stay. The room did not have a keurig unlike some of the newer rooms. The refrigerator worked well, maybe too well as it froze some of our items that we left inside of it. The room had a musty odor inside. The front porch is nice, however your view is blocked by the paneling on the porch railing. The air conditioning unit works really well and overall the room is pretty soundproof; the only real noise on the property is the commercial generators that occasionally activated. We did not hear them when we were inside the unit. The cantina was well appointed, we did find some leftover products left by previous guests which were well past their expiration dates. The refrigerators are very handy, however, they should be monitored for old/stale or expired food products. We noticed by day three of our stay that the bottled water for the keurig’s was running low. We had plenty of water on to support making coffee. All in all our stay was very enjoyable, peaceful and we were able to get some amazing pictures of wildlife up on the ridge and photos of the comet that was recently viewable.
