Rooms good value for money but pretty poor pub food and service. If the pub and restaurant could offer reasonable service and food this would be a very good place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay and the manager communicated with us beforehand about entry details etc It would be useful to have a sheet in the room with info about breakfast times,where to find this and choices available, also Wi-Fi details (open Wi-Fi) Otherwise all was good.

The room was large as well as the bathroom. The rooms are away from the pub so they are quiet. Good choice for dinner at the pub. Good breakfast. We had an issue with the heating but it was fixed quickly. My only negative was noisy plumbing during the night.

Short stay
The position of the hotel was great for getting around. The pub was great, with good food and friendly people. The room was a good size and in great situation but tired and needs a bit of maintenance which has been planned for the future.

Freezing cold stay
Unfortunately this was an awful experience staying here. I stayed in room 11. This is a room in the pub garden with French doors. The room was freezing, multiple times tried to use thw heater to boost the temperature but the heater is not adequate for the room. I had to get an extra blanket from my car and also slept in 3 layers of clothing just to keep warm. The temperature on the heater said 7 degrees! Waking up early due to being cold there was no running water to the room, whist this was due to frozen pipes it just added to the situation. Had this of been the only issue i would not have been that bothered. I had no opinion butto leave early before breakfast due to just being so cold that i was physically shaking,and unable to fully get ready to go to work. Went to hand the key and knocked on the pub window, to then be ignored by 2 staff who looked at me and said to each other its not even 7 am yet as they turned around and walked off.

Hi Kerry you have already left this review on another site and I have replied offering you a refund on the breakfast you said you purchased.I have spoken to both members of my staff and they said they never saw you or said anything of the sort. The door was open if you wanted to have come in early. I could not of predicted the weather and yes unfortunately the pipes froze during the nite. The radiator is independant to thay room so can come on as and when needed. Some how you had turned it right off rather than up whilst you were playing with it that's why it wasn't working.Have had no issues since in that room.You had the emergency number in the room but you didn't message me until 6.55am to tell me about the issues. If tou had called I could od sorted it all out for you with extra heaters and blankets.Unfortunately if you don't talk to me I can't help sort out the situation.

The room was warm, clean and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom radiator was very hot and only cooled down when we turned it completely off. The shower was warm and pressure pretty good. The breakfast was delicious and very generous; I had the veggie full English and my husband had the meat version. A proper full pot of tea rather than a tiny pot which was great! We stayed here when visiting the Bombay Sapphire distillery so it was convenient. Would definitely stay again. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Lovely helpful staff. Room clean and warm [ wet cold evening] . Good selection for breakfast. Great shower. Could do with a little maintenance, the toilet flush/drainage not so good.

The property had just been taken over by new landlord and was not operating fully, however, we had a lovely breakfast. Have to say, the room was a little tired though and in need of an update. Location is wonderful and surroundings beautiful. We will revisit in the future.

One night stay. Very nice.
A very enjoyable stay for one night. Check in was very easy, at the pub bar. The room is set away from the main building and was very clean and comfortable Breakfast choice was very good We found the dinner choice a little limited. All staff were very friendly. It is worth checking directions as those linked to our booking email were inaccurate.

Good pub and accommodation for the money
Stayed before 2 years ago, was good so I returned. Still good, although a bit more worn. Still fine for a week's stay. Food is fine, breakfast is included and pretty good. Reasonable price. Good location for what I needed, as in between Reading and Basingstoke.

The staff are pleasant and the food was fine but the “deluxe” rooms were a big disappointment (grubby and with heavily stained carpets) the general organisation was chaotic on many levels from the room reservation to meal times. 3/5 overall -we won’t be back

Lovely old Inn.
A lovely old inn. Good location for onward travel. My only disappointment was no food on a Sunday after 5.30pm, unfortunately I arrived att 6pm. Being a hotel, I would have tought it was good sense to cook for the residents. 3 coupls came in and asked for food after I arrived, so there is obviously demand.

Fantastic value for money. We booked bed breakfast and evening meal and everything was lovely. The staff were really friendly and the meal choices were excellent. . The rooms are in chalets behind the pub and they are quiet and very private. The pub has beautiful grounds

Good overnight stay. Pub very busy. Room comfortable and clean. Evening meal very good. Breakfast a bit hit & miss though. During our stay it was raining pretty heavy and in view of the fact that you have to go outside to the rooms I think it would be nice if the owners provided some umbrellas for the guests.

Great stay had
We stayed from Monday to Friday first time here we came down here from up north for a family visit trip .check in was good .very welcoming .all staff very friendly and Lyndsey I think lady name is cooked a great breakfast as did other chef.hotel is in a great countryside peaceful .location.accommodation was okay .good value for money.would defiantly stay here as stopover again.lovely grounds.
