Excellent location
Beautiful setting, views were great from our Fish Eagle loft. Walking distance to museums, restaurants and the little town centre. Short drive to farms and nature reserve.

Overnight stay
Stayed in Aan de Oever for 1 night en route to Plettenberg. The B&B is very quaint but beautifully decorated. It’s located in a quiet and what seems like a very safe neighbourhood. There are good restaurants at close walking distance and the main town is also close by. The guesthouse is by a river overlooking the mountains. They have a beautiful garden amass with birds and flowers. There’s a small swimming pool and a plunge pool. Check in was easy, staffs are very nice, friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautiful and clean, small little touches like flowers on our bed and bathroom, a small bag of muffins for the road made us feel more welcome and appreciated. Breakfast was excellent, good and varied choices of food and drinks are available. Information about restaurants and surrounding areas were provided to guest in the room. They even washed our car which was very dusty after driving to Malmoth natural reserve! It’s a shame that we are only staying for 1 night. I would highly recommend this place.

Wonderful surprise stop on our way from Cape Town to the Garden Route! Swellendam is a cute little place, very leafy and quaint. And Aan de Oever is perfectly located in a quiet street just a few mins walk from nice restaurants (one of which they pre-booked for us without having to request it- Drosdy! One of the best meals of our trip). They upgraded us to a very spacious room and we just enjoyed relaxing on the beautiful grounds for a few hours. It’s set next to a little river and the pool deck has great mountain views. Overall the perfect experience, highly recommended.

We stayed only one night at Aan de Oever, but definitely wished we stayed longer. Lovely guest house with a secluded pool area and very nice stylish rooms (we stayed in the Barn Owl attic room on Christmas Eve). Everyone is very friendly, service is great, and they even washed all the parked cars the next morning. Super breakfast! The house is also close to Swellendam center (Swellendam itself is a lovely little town), and we would particularly recommend walking to Drosdy‘s restaurant — Probably the best food we had in SA. Overall, more than 100% satisfied and tremendous value for money!

Great place to stay
This was a stopover from the East Cape to Stellenbosch. We were very pleased to find such a lovely place. Good breakfast, helpful staff, good everything.

We absolutely loved this place. It was beautiful, charming, comfortable, and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. So many nice little touches too. It was a last-minute booking necessitated by a change in our overall itinerary, but ended up being one of our favorite places to stay on our trip. Really wish we could have spent more time at Aan de Oever.

Quaint spot with quiet yard by a small river
Swellendam is chock full of beautiful homes and gardens. The staff here were very friendly and the place had a nice pool and quiet yard. The room had a few quirky things - but everything you could ask for.

very comfortable bed and a good shower. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a garden room with a balcony where I had the unexpected opportunity to watch the SunBirds feeding. Breakfast was plentiful and good with great service. This is a lovely place to stay with a peaceful atmosphere. The Drostdy Museum close by is certainly worth a visit. Vera who checked us in and was the hostess for breakfast was extremely helpful and even packed some delicious muffins for our onward journey.

Excellent place to stay, very friendly welcome and although room was a little odd it had everything that I needed, including good air-conditioning and a strong shower. Area was pleasant with several good restaurant choices within 10 minutes walk in a safe area. Breakfast was comprehensive and they even had a guy there who cleaned the car while I had breakfast (just for a tip, no fee).

Delightful Guest House in an interesting town.
My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in this lovely house. We had a warm reception and had already been booked in for dinner at a restaurant within easy walking distance. It turned out to be excellent and we returned there several times. Our room was comfortable and was well-equipped; it had a wonderful view of the nearby mountains. Breakfasts were more than adequate and service both excellent and friendly. Our car was washed early each morning without anyone having been asked.

Excellent b&b with attractive outside space
Only stayed for one night, but all excellent. Kingfisher room was a decent size with en suite featuring a bath and shower. Finished decking area overlooking attractive small pool and well maintained gardens leading down to the river. Very good buffet breakfast and car washed!!! Free muffins given on departure. Should have stayed longer!

Awesome breakfast
Just a 1 night stop with my family on our way to Cape Town. Place is really cozy and nice, with a garden, pool and beautiful view of the mountains. Breakfast is amazing!!! Too bad we stayed for so little. Also, they were very nice and gave us some muffins on the way out. They take care of every little detail.

Great guest house in stunning gardens
If you're planning a stay in Svellendam then look no further. Superb guest house. Large room with private balcony overlooking the stunning gardens, pools and mountains. Great welcome, lovely breakfast and even a car wash and bag of home-baked muffins to send you on your way. Excellent.

Beautiful spot with all the home comforts
Wow ..... we loved this guesthouse! It's set in the mountains next to a little river with beautiful swimming pools to relax by. The hosts are great and have thought of everything, rooms are well equipped with everything you need, we actually had the smallest room but it was still so homely.... you must stay here if visiting Swellendam!

A little gem in a relaxing spot
Fantastic little find. Great environment and hospitality and yummy biltong bread served for breakfast one morning! Lovely secluded garden/pool area and fantastic views of the mountain. Lovely finishing touches like flowers, homemade rusks, muffins on departure etc! Would recommend!

Hotel with a mountain view
Nice B&B with a wonderful garden facing a mountain. The owner was very helpful. We had an upgrade to a room with a patio facing the garden and the pool. The bathroom was large with a separate bathroom and shower. The breakfast was very good and the owner provided us with muffins for our trip.

Great stopover!
We have stayed In Swellendam a number of times and this is the best place we have stayed in. The loft bedroom was spacious and well equipped. Good breakfast and good professional staff. Will definitely make this our regular stopover on our way to Cape Town!

Enjoyed a 1 night stay here on our way along the Garden Route. Aan de Oever is a lovely guest house with an olde worldy charm about it. Room was large, spotlessly clean and well equipped. We particularly liked the garden area which is a lovely setting for relaxing in the afternoon and for eating breakfast. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, particularly with choice of local restaurants.

Lovely stay !
We has a lovely stay here. The garden is wonderful and very tranquil, the staff are very friendly and great at giving advice as to where to go, the breakfast was delicious and the room very private and comfortable. The guesthouse is well located within reach of good restaurants in a nice quiet road. Would defer commend it!

A memorable stay in an amazing guesthouse
Guesthouse Aan de Oever is simply awesome! It's located close to the town centre of Swellendam which is a beautiful town. My room was a decent size and the bed was comfy. It comes with free WiFi and the breakfast was just delicious. If you have your breakfast on the terrace then it even comes with the most amazing mountain view :) The staff was really friendly and welcoming and one member of staff even cleaned my car before I got out of the bed in the morning without me asking (they probably noticed that my car looked terrible due to driving on the gravel roads). I really enjoyed my stay in this guesthouse and I definitely recommend it.

Great spot in Swellendam
Aan de Oever was a great stay. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast is good (although would not recommend the omlet), there are several good restaurants nearby (recommend de Compagnie). The backyard (if it were summer) is lovely and you feel like you're at a mini retreat. The location is in a residential neighbourhood so nice and quiet but close to everywhere you need to go.

BEAUTIFUL ESTABLISHMENT
Our host, Fienie was very welcoming and the property was very attractive and clean. We were upgraded to a larger room which was a lovely surprise. Our room was tastefully decorated, quiet and warm (it was winter) and breakfast the next morning by the log fire was plentiful. We would definitely stay at Aan de Oever B & B if we travelled the Garden Route again. Fienie suggested that we drive towards Barrydale through the Tradauws Pass the next morning. This was a spectacular mountain pass and a great suggestion. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
