I was not pleased with this Hotel. I booked 2 Family Rooms that could have housed 4 people each. I received an email from Expedia saying that the price for each room was based on 3 people. I originally booked the rooms for 5 people but had to adjust to 7 later on. When I checked in, I was charged for 2 additional people. While I did not feel that I should have been charged anything extra as they were family rooms and advertised space for 4 people in each room, with the email sent saying that each room price was based on 3 occupants I was willing to pay for one extra person. They would not accept that and I was charged for two additional people as they said that I was paying the extra for bedding and breakfast. Interesting though that there was no additional bedding, they did not clean or give us new towels during our stay. I can understand the breakfast but again the room cost allowed for 6 people anyway. Not worth the price.

Hello Terri,I'm sorry to hear that you were not pleased with your stay. You booked 2 rooms, 1 for 2 guests and 1 for 3 guests. They had different prices based on the number of guests from the start, so already during booking you were informed about these prices. Then you informed us that you would come with 2 more guests. We answered you the same day with a confirmation that this was no problem and informed you about the extra charge, 2 months before you arrived. So this was not a surprise at all, rather you chosing to not read the response to the message you send us. And blaming us for that is not realy fair.Regardless, I hope you still enjoyed your time in Geiranger.

Property has a unique location. View is fantastic. We had a late check in and the lady at the reception was very friendly. Rooms are extremely small and had basic amenities but the view was spectacular and it compensated for everything else. Highway 55 was an exciting drive. Shocked at the breakfast deadline given by the young lady who announced in a cold tone that they would be closing the breakfast room door at 10 AM and at 10.05 AM one would need to take plate and cutlery out and sit and eat at the table in the front reception. Felt we were in a boarding school than in one of the good hotels in Norway. Never experienced this in all my previous travels. Pierre at the front reception was great.

Unbeatable views of the fjord. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit small but considering where its built they are quite adequate. Overall we had a great experience. Good restaurant and breakfast too.

Romantic getaway with cozy beds and good food
A gorgeous hotel! One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It is clean and has great views. Really nice attention to details from the real candles they light at dinner to the linens. The bed was cozy and soft and the blackout curtains effective. Dinner was very good for a vegetarian and non-vegetarian and breakfast good too. Coffee is good and strong. The little cozy lounge with an amazing view of the fjord was fantastic. It was crowded on the streets so my husband and I hung out there got some work done on our creative project on the computer. Pay a little more and stay in the fjord-view suite! It’s so worth it. Very romantic place.

Amazing view of the fjord from my room. Not a huge menu but the quality of the food was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Would recommend.

Hello Halima,I'm sorry to hear you've experienced a closed road that prevented you from reaching Geiranger. Due to the high mountains and frequent avalaches, many mountain passes in Norway are closed during the winter. During the spring, when the last avalanches have come down, they clear the roads and open them for traffic when they are deemed safe. Closed roads are usually marked along the way. We do call all our guests during the evening if they have not arrived, but unfortunately we couldn't reach you.Road 63 has opened for the season today so if you're still in the area please contact the reception so we can move your reservation.

We only stayed for one night because our travel plans changed. The breathtaking view of the Geiranger Fjord was the only appealing feature of the $400 per night hotel. In addition, there was no television in the small room. For the morning breakfast, there were only a few simple food options available.

The view from my window was fantastic. Going there ask for the fjord looking room. Dinner was rather poor and expensive. It took a too long time to bring the dinner, and we did not ask anything special

This hotel has an amazing view! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. It is definitely a classic style hotel. The best part of staying here is the quality of the breakfast. The bread was fresh and fluffy, they have variety of fruit, meats and cheeses and the smoothie they had at breakfast was the best I had in Norway.

Astonishing view and excellent restaurant
The hotel is famous for its location, especially when in the "sea view" room. It is not exactly viewing the sea, but have a large window facing Geiranger port and the fjord, the view is astonishing. We were there with rainy days and very fortunate have the sea view room, so only we missed is a sun-shining view of the fjord, but with various different pictures of scenery. The chef of the restaurant was the best among our trip of Norway, especially recommend to experience the dinner! The room was tiny and bed was narrow and too soft in the other side; and a bit noisy because lots of tour buses from cruises passing the road underneath the window during day time; however starting from evening hours everything was quieting down.

The view is wonderful, but the room was very small, and there was. Hardly a place to stand. It was realy difficult to stay in the room. No elevator. The hotel was old, and smelled of cooking. A very poor experience.

Excellent old world hotel. Staff are exemplary and very helpful. There is no elevator (lift) however staff are happy to help with bags up the stairs. Rooms are not huge but have everything you need. Bathroom is also very good. Bed is excellent. The food in the restaurant while a little on the pricy side is absolutely perfect.

The view from this property of Geiranger is amazing! It sits high above the village away from all the chaos of the busy port. The hotel is historic and rooms small, but the view makes up for that. Dinner here was great. Staff friendly, especially Alisa, who was so pleasant and fun to talk to.

Dear view
The view onto the fjord below is the main selling point, along with a very good breakfast. But you don't see the view having breakfast, so if like us you have a room looking the other way, be sure to take advantage of the free afternoon tea in the lounge which does have superb views - in fact we used the lounge again the next morning just for the view. The hotel is quite old and although the rooms have been well done up, our room was quite tight with a squeeze around the bed to get to the loo. In the bathroom there was a loud buzzing noise which turned out to be the ventilation, anyway we still slept well. No lift might be a problem though they offered to help with cases.

Our favorites were the amazing view and how nice the staff was. The facility itself is dated, the bathroom really small with no shelf space. The hotel has no elevator and we had to carry our bags three flights of stairs.
