The cottage was built circa 1896 by the Forgan family who in the late 1800s were one of the leading golf club manufacturers based in St Andrews. The cottage was modernised in 2012 and has recently undergone major refurbishment in 2022 with new basement utility area, new decor, furnishings and flooring in all the bedrooms, and new flooring throughout the rest of the cottage. The bright living/dining area looks out onto the back garden and the path along the Kinness Burn can be accessed through the rear garden gate. All bedrooms have superking size beds, and can all be converted to twin beds. The large centrally heated basement has been fully modernised with new units and flooring this year. There is a new washing machine, tumble dryer, additional integrated fridge and freezer, wine chiller fridge and specially designed space for your dog. Facilities were clean and well cared for. Location is excellent - if you want to walk you are within 15 minutes of just about everything of significance in St Andrews. While no onsite parking - there is ample free parking nearby. Patricia was a great host - always communicated clearly and promptly during the booking and stay. Beds were comfortable and rooms well furnished. Forgan will nicely support 3 couples. We were four separate individuals and it work out nice for beds available. The beds were comfortable, the decor was charming, the TV room was snug and enjoyable too. Best of all was the location - just a 5-10 minute walk to virtually all of St. Andrew's, especially fun via Louden's Close and Lad's Brae - 2 little waling paths that have a very 'secret garden' kind of feel. Patricia was an excellent host who was very responsive from booking all the way through check out. The property is very clean and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests. Although the garden area looks great, we were not able to enjoy it because of the weather. The property is very conveniently located and easy to find. Once in St Andrews, you rarely require a car since South, Market and North Streets are all within 5-10 minute walks. There you will find many coffee shops, restaurants and bars.
