First time at the Holiday Inn Express having had a bad experience with Premier Inn, and I was impressed. Well presented, good staff and well maintained. Breakfast was also good. Will try this brand again for sure. Nick B

Dog friendly. Wish we'd been told on arrival that there was no food available that evening, and that the Harvester next door accepted dogs in the bar area where food was available. We were told that dogs were not allowed in there, so we ordered a takeaway which took 2 hours to come.

The hotel itself was very easy to get to and the welcome was lovely and genuine. We had requested a groud floor room due to medical issues. The room was lovely but unfortunately the cups and spoons .were sticky and had coffee stains on them so we had to rewash them. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast wasnt very good the fresh orange juice wasn't juice, it was squash. The scrambled eggs were cold, the bacon was very fatty and again cold. The butter for the bread was cold and solid so ripped the bread unless you had it on toast. Outside the hotel are pillars covered in dog urine, running across the pathway. I get that dogs are part of a family but why let them urinate by the main entrance to the hotel ?

Quite simply its very clean very comfortable and with a very good breakfast included it is VERY good value. Normally at this price you expect worn, tired, grungy ....not this place. I would definitely stay here again.

Not as good as we hoped
Stayed 4 nights. Room was never properly serviced. Perhaps Xmas did not help ! Breakfast food was never hot, powdered scrambled eggs gritty and orange juice from powder was disgusting. Indoor temperature was far too high.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a good choice and the food was hot. The only issue would be with the size of the breakfast room. We were warned about not leaving it too late to go to breakfast as you might need to queue or 'grab and go' so we went early which meant there were plenty of tables free. If you left it later and the hotel was busy there would not be enough tables for everyone. The hotel was in a good location, close to the M5 and Taunton town centre. Once we'd arrived there was plenty of free parking (enter vehicle registration into computer terminal in hotel reception).

Comfortable stay
Had a shift starting at 1pm so allowed me a late check out of 12.30pm. Breakfast included is always appreciated but would have been good if eggs and cheese was on offer, especially for vegetarians.

Prefer a Premier Inn
Bed comfort and ease of check in 10/10. Plug sockets all at skirting board height, no mirror at the desk area, so trying to put makeup on and do my hair really difficult 3/10. Lighting in the room was gloomy 3/10. Breakfast - cold bacon, rubbery sausages and burnt toast 3/10.

Room was clean, modern and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately there was no bottled water in the room and only sparkling water available to buy (normal bottled water had finished). Breakfast was served from 7am on the weekend giving me enough time to eat before an 8am shift. No heater in bathroom and instead of central heating, there is a air condition unit which didn’t really warm the room.

Hotel ok for a one night stopover - large room with comfortable bed. What has happened to the standard of the Holiday Inn breakfast - well below average here. Many items tasteless, and poor range of choices.

Really good stay. Easy check in. Room was clean. Small amount of mould in shower area otherwise fine. Breakfast well cooked (no fried eggs?) and plenty of seating. Orange juice tasted a bit cheap.

I was offered a room with a double bed and a sofa bed, the sofa bed was inadequate to sleep on. I complained to reception and was offered another duvet? When i asked to change rooms i was told there weren't any, checked online and they had one remaining. Also, breakfast was far from what i expected, no hadh brown,no vegetarian sausages and no fried eggs. They did have their famous bap but only available till 8.45am, after that you will not be able to get your hands on one. Overall a poor experience not to be repeated again.

Needs a refresh
The hotel was in a good location as we had a car. We did’nt have room cleaned our choice. But on entering the bathroom had a distinctly wee smell and the carpets even though dark were extremely dirty. But staff were professional and housekeepers very lovely and friendly. Only had breakfast one day and it was ok.
