"Everything was exactly what you'd expect from a quality holiday resort and spa. Our only regret was staying for just one night, which simply wasn't long enough to enjoy the many activities and facilities on offer. This is the kind of place best appreciated over several days, where you can truly switch off, relax, and do absolutely nothing if that's what you need. If you're planning a visit, I'd definitely recommend making it a multi-night stay to get the most out of the experience."

Sofia Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"very good “airport hotel” as it was close and easy to access the airport itself. A scale in the lobby is very handy to verify your baggage weight, Quite a few tavernas and cafes within a 10-minute stroll. Helpful staff. Would be nice add if an airport shuttle was available. The taxis are a rip off charging 12 Euro to travel a 5 minute ride."

Peninsula Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

"Great hotel complex. Nice food. Lots of different areas to relax. Indoor and outdoor pools . Friendly staff. Public bus stops outside or book a tour /car hire via reception."

Ethereal White Resort Hotel & Spa - Adults Only

10/10 Excellent

"The staff was so incredibly welcoming and helpful during our entire stay. We had an early flight prior to the breakfast hours the following morning, however the staff kindly offered to provide a boxed meal for us to take to the airport. It included a apple, banana, a few different pastries, along with bottles of water and juice. The room was amazing! We needed a quality bed and pillows after our previous locations stay and this room hit the spot! The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were awesome! They even had a pillow menu if the pillows didn't meet your needs. My wife and I will certainly come back in the future as the amazing experience we had! Great location too for going to the local shops and restaurants."

"Very clean and helpful staff"

Artion City Boutique Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Great place to stay, friendly staff and management. Unfortunately had an issue with my ferry and missed a night of my stay but management was very helpful in trying to accommodate me. My only issue is that then hot water sometimes ran out in the shower and tap but the staff told me they were currently working on this issue which is reassuring. Great central location right near the centre of Heraklion"

Metropole Urban Hotel

8/10 Good

"Property was good and breakfast at the restaurant in the morning was plentiful as well (leave a lot of time for it). Area was quiet and nice. The thing that was annoying, however, was tha light in the washroom was turning on at night when you tried using it, waking up both yourself and your family members."

Ibis Styles Heraklion Central

10/10 Excellent

"Our room was very spacious, a lovely big balcony, air con worked great we all got a good nights sleep"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Sisai?

The best area to stay in Sisai is the village itself, particularly around the church square and the small streets leading off it.Sisai is a compact, traditional Cretan village located in the hills, offering a tranquil escape from the busier coastal resorts. The heart of the village is the church square, where you'll find a few local tavernas serving authentic Greek cuisine and a small mini-market for essentials. The streets are narrow and winding, superb for leisurely strolls, and many properties offer stunning views of the surrounding olive groves and the sea in the distance.Couples looking for a peaceful and authentic Greek experience will find Sisai ideal. It's a wonderful base for exploring the island's natural beauty, with hiking trails nearby and easy access to the coast for beach days without being in the thick of the tourist crowds. Evenings can be spent enjoying a quiet meal at a local taverna or simply relaxing on a balcony, taking in the stars.

When is the best time to go to Sisai?

The best time to go to Sisai is generally from late spring (May and June) to early autumn (September and October) when the weather is pleasant and the island is less crowded than in peak summer. For couples looking for a romantic getaway, May and June are ideal. The temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C.Families often find September and October to be perfect. The summer heat has subsided, making it comfortable for children to enjoy outdoor activities and the beaches without the intense sun. The sea remains warm for swimming, and many of the summer crowds have departed, leading to a more relaxed experience at attractions and restaurants.
