Disappointing
Would rate the overall experience as a 6 out of 10. Okay but not great. Property is a bit run down especially the backyard area. Both sliding screen doors fell off the tracks, neither bathroom sink had a drain stopper. Kayaks are a nice touch unfortunately it's a tuff job to get them down to the water and even tougher to get them back to the house. Internet service was good and the TV worked great.

Nice view
Our tweens and teens had space and enjoyed themselves greatly. We often rent out homes for getaways and this home was ok as it offered the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful view and to get together with friends. However the home was very dusty and dirty in many places and we had to clean; cobwebs in corners and wall; we decided not to use gas fireplace as we couldn’t see fire due to so much soot in the glass front and through the wall to ceiling. The house is under furnished so our group of 9 had to be creative when we were watching a movie. The “family room” downstairs was full of dust, kids were able to write their names on a dusty table, and windows had no coverings to sleep. This room offered space and a TV so it was fun for them and comfortable when we added two of our inflatable mattresses. Downstairs closets were dusty and dirty which would fall on our hanging clothes. Drawers filled with random game pieces and disorganized with games. We decided not to deal with that. Drawers in kitchen were not organized and some we had to remove utensils and clean. As mentioned in other reviews, the beds are not comfortable. Sleeping in the main room’s only sofa was difficult with no window coverings in that area as well. The home has great potential and may need some updating, however, a deep cleaning and attention to details seems necessary.

Beautiful beach house
Great vacation house. We were able to sleep a family of six comfortably. The view is spectacular and the neighborhood is very quiet. WiFi is good and the Roku allows you to set up you own subscriptions. There are three kayaks. We planned to use them but the water was too cold in April. There is only one shower and the water has a distinct iron taste. Kitchen is fully stocked, but you might consider bringing an electric skillet.

We enjoyed our time at this property very much. We loved the view, the well-stocked kitchen, convenience items and restful atmosphere. We will be back for a stay during the summer months to take advantage of the outdoor spaces and kayaks!

Exceptional Stay

Cool home base in Shelton/Olympia area
Our family of adults and teens had a wonderful stay in this beautiful waterside home. The house was very roomy and we had plenty of space for each person. The kitchen was well-appointed with cookware, spices, and cleaning supplies and even had had several refrigerated basics/condiments as well. We used the laundry every day after we came home from exploring nearby hikes (don't miss Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge to see the birds, and be sure to go early to Staircase Rapids nature Trail to get a decent parking spot for the hike), and the new gas BBQ worked great for grilling out at night. We saw a seal in the water in front of the house in the mornings and had a raccoon visit the lower level one night--very exciting! Be aware the beds are all quite firm--if that isn't your style, then FYI. We'd love to return to this home--it was close by to Olympia (go to Burfoot Park at low tide to find sand dollars!!!!), right off 101 to make easy driving to hiking up North, and perched right on the coastline with large picture windows and a covered back deck to allow the family to appreciate the views every day. Lovely!

Peaceful weekend retreat!
My friends and I stayed for a weekend at oyster bay retreat and had a phenomenal time. The home was very cozy, private and well built. The views from the back porch were awesome, the property manager was very attentive, and the home has everything you'll need for your next vacation!

Great place, Great host
While no place is perfect, and there were a few challenges here, we were very impressed with the response to the challenges. The location was great for us, but depending on your plans it may or may not work for you. That was the only challenge with the location. We were up every morning to watch the sunrise and hope to glimpse Mount Rainier through the clouds. Which we got most mornings. The location is right on the water and very quiet. We enjoyed looking for wildlife in the inlet, and we did see many birds as well as a couple of otters. The house is well kept, and though some of the accommodations are a bit outdated, everything works well, and we were very comfortable. We had a challenge with the shower, and the host and his team got things taken care of as quickly as possible and we didn't really have any inconvenience. We will definitely be staying here again!

OMG! What a wonder-filled view from the living/family room. This home looks out onto Totten inlet with Mt. Raineer off to the right, beautiful waters in front (back) of the house and watching of seals and ducks hunting for food on the bottom of the inlet. Peaceful, relaxing, and revitalizing. Amenities were all that was needed and we enjoyed our time here immensly.

This was the first stop on a journey to celebrate 35 years of marriage. What a way to start! The view was beautiful. The house was everything we expected. The bed in the master is very firm but we still slept like babies. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Will definitely be back!

Amazing view. Great location.
A perfect location for a family gathering, as we traveled from different areas of WA & OR. Amazing view. We reserved this house for the view and location. It did not disappoint. The house needs an update, but overall, it was a great stay for us. Please note, NO AC, only ONE shower, though 3 toilets, and the stairs to the beach are not for everyone. We needed to communicate with the owner. He was attentive, communicative and took care of some minor issues. We look forward to renting the house again.

Awesome view, but...
All in all, a good house. Big. Some rickety wooden steps leading down to the water, though, and overall the decor of the house is dated. The whole thing would benefit from an update but was comfortable enough.

Friends & Family Stay
We really enjoyed our time at this property. We especially enjoyed finding Clams and Oysters! Fishing was also a big hit with our kids! You must be capable of walking up stairs to enjoy the water. There is no A/C, one shower but three bathrooms (which was nice)! Comfortably sleeps 7 adults! We had a great time!

Sweet get away
The location of this place is superb. It’s so peaceful and the view is beautiful. We spent hours on the deck looking out at the water and playing at the beach when the tide was low. You are even allowed to collect oysters for your enjoyment during the stay (1 dozen), which we were too scared to do, haha. The house had everything we needed.

Oyster Bay Retreat
The property was great. The location was perfect as we were able to go all over and used the house as a base camp. The place was clean but we did have some dishes that were not clean that we had to wash before we used them. All in all we would definitely stay there again. It was fun oyster hunting from the beach. The description of the house very much matched what we found. We had adequate supply of linens, and there were other things like spices, paper products, etc that we could use so we didn't have to purchase everything. The checkin and check out process was very easy. A great place to visit!

Beautiful View!
This property has a gorgeous view of the Totten Inlet! The house was clean and comfortable. Our kids had a great time fishing right from the beach. We saw harbor seals swimming within 50 yards of the shore every day, and one evening a couple of sea otters flopped up onto the pier next door! If the sky is clear, you can look outside the back of the house, over the inlet, and see a stunning view of Mt. Rainier! A few details to note for out-of-town travelers: * The back patio is 40-50 vertical feet above the beach; there is a series of steep stairways to get down. For the young and mobile it's not a problem, but something to consider. *There is only 1 bathtub/shower, and three 1/2-baths, so larger groups may need to plan your shower schedule. *There is no fire pit on the property, in case that's something you look forward to on a vacation. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time! We would definitely stay here again.
