The staff at Otaru Retreat Kuramure really went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great stay and took care of our every need. The kaiseke dinners and breakfasts were truly impressive, what an experience! The property and overall experience were beyond my expectations!
Very cool Stay! We loved the kids futon!!😍 Deep dive into the Japanese culture. Everything was super interesting and we can’t wait to be back. Foods were delicious and Location nice next to Asari Ski resort. ありがとうございます!
The property is properly located at a quite neighborhood for people looking for privacy. Well renovated yet a bit modern as compare to other onsen ryokan in Japan. Staffs are super polite, helpful and considerate, exceeds most 5 stars hotel standard. The food over there are nice and the presentation is superb. It is just like an art...Each guest room has its own in-room onsen. Due to limited guest rooms, the public onsen is like private onsen most of the time. My family has an amazing stay there. Looking forward to re-visit the venue again if I come around Otaru area next time.
The hotel is fantastic. The room and common areas are beautiful and spotless, the staff were so friendly and helpful (Erika in particular was brilliant!), the food and drink were great and the hotel was really well situated to explore the area (although a car is essential). Would highly recommend.
This was a very exclusive stay with excellent food using a carefully selected choice of Hokkaido produce as well as sake and wines.
There is a shuttle from the Otaru Chikko station if you organise in advance but you can get in to Otaru using a taxi without any problems. We had an in -room onsen which was gratefully received and used quite a few times. Beds were comfortable but upstairs if anyone had trouble with stairs.
Interior design is very modern, room was very cozy. Though stairs to upstairs which contains 2nd bedroom and bathroom was quite steep, so try to get single story room if you are planning to travel with elderly family member.
Food was amazing, seemed to be cooked with fresh ingredients.
Staff were very kind. They were very supportive and respectful.
It was perfect. Seriously. Open bar with a pretty stellar collection of local Whiskey. Might disappoint those looking for Western Cocktails (they have them, but they won't be the best you've tried), but why would you order that at a local Ryokan in Otaru Japan?? Ask them for their "o-su-su-me" ("recommendation") and just enjoy yourself.
Room was perfect, staff were helpful, food was excellent, and Otaru neighboring areas were so much fun for those looking to enjoy the Hokkaido region.
Hope to stay here again one day.
