The receptionists are so rude and changed my original booking from a 4 people dorm to 16 people dorm, when I asked them they asked me to pay more if I want to stay in my original room. Not so friendly and making things very difficult.

Thank you for your review. Maybe there was a misunderstanding. The reason you couldn't stay at a 4 people room is because it is a women only dorm. That's why we offered a 16 bed dorm, lowering your rate, or an 8 bed dorm. Sorry for the mix up. We care a lot about guest service, and wouldn't take advantage of our guests.

Located in a great spot in the city and all of the staff members were excellent. They have pretty good ac. Showers are cold but it didn't really matter because it's super hot and humid!

Great hostel in the best part of Santa Marta!
This is a great hostel! I booked a triple room for a two night stay prior to a Ciudad Perdida trek and a one night stay upon our return. Instead of the triple room (which looked nice on their website) they put us in this great room called Kinky, which is a huge lofted room with it's own entrance next to the hostel with space for 6 guests. We loved it! The pool is a bit on the small side, but it's surrounded by lovely huge palm trees and it's certainly big enough to cool down when needed. There were good things on offer to guests - playstation, big screen TV in a common space for films, board games, rental bikes. Initially I had tried to book a different hostel that seemed to have a nicer pool but in the end I am so glad we ended up at Villana because it is definitely in the best part of the city - very close to cute restaurants and bars. This is very important, because Santa Marta on the whole did not feel overly safe, and we felt a bit vulnerable at the idea of walking around most of the streets after dark. The one problem we had at Villana was with the laundry service. Our clothes weren't ready when they were supposed to be our last morning, and so we had to delay our transfer to Tayrona. When we sorted through our stuff after leaving Santa Marta we found that a lot of it was still dirty and some of our things were missing. Apart from that our experience with Villana was very positive.

leider Bettwanzen
Frühzeitig gegangen wegen Bettwanzen. Ansonsten scheinen die Zimmer sauber zu sein, die Betten sind bequem.

Thank you for your review. We take pest control very seriously. Tayrona and surrounding areas are full of "chinches", which stick to your clothes, shoes and bags, and they come back with our guests. That's why we offer discount to do all your laundry when coming back from rural areas. Some times these bugs are tough to terminate but we prevent spray every 3 months just to keep them away. It's not bed bugs, just to clear that up.

Tuve algunos problemas con el baño pues no funcionaba bn, y para un plan de pareja es algo complicado, pero en general fueron buenas condiciones y cerca a al sector central de ciudad y turistico.

Lovely place
This was my first stay at a hostel and I loved everything about the stay. The staff was so Nice and relaxed and the people I meet there was lovely. As you can read in other reviews it is only cold water but it is not so bad when you are in this climate. The hostel is located in the heart of the historical part with lots of resturants and bars just around the corner. As an overall it was a pretty good stay and I am glad I stayed at Hostel Villiana.
