The hotel was a lovely building, but needed a little work on the grounds. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and the breakfast had a lot of choice. The room was nice but a little noisy due to thin wall. A good base to see the island from.

The room we had was in the main, older part of the building which had single glazing so could have been improved by double glazing. The fixtures and fittings of the room were dated and we had no bedside lights and a very small tv … the remote for which didn’t work as the battery casing was missing and cellotaped on …. But the reception replaced it for a working one the minute we asked. The overall feeling was that it’s a bit dated but the grounds were lovely …. Parking ample and free ….

It’s a beautiful old building in a lovely place nice and quiet with easy access to the main roads I will definitely stop there again

This is an old country house with a bit of history. It has an area outside to sit in and a nice garden.There has been extra wings built on. Our room was a decent size with a double and single, but the furniture was old and falling to pieces. The room was cleaned and aired. The lifts were old and we had to get two lifts to the third floor and walk from one to the other. There was entertainment at the hotel and we had an enjoyable evening with a drink and dance to the 60 s songs the singer sang. He was a good entertainer. There was also a games room with a snooker table and other games which we used for no charge. We paid extra for breakfast and there was a choice of things to eat, cereal, full English , yoghurts etc. The breakfast was as good as a lot of other hotels. We enjoyed our stay .

Nice location and grounds. Check is was easy. Lots of parking for a charge of £1 per day. Friendly bar staff and lots of comfortable places to sit in the hotel if you prefer not to spend the time in your room.

Location was good. Hotel in need of some attention. Lack of facilities at breakfast, I. E Plates, cups, tea and coffee and lack of food and not replenished enough. Staff tried hard but it was obvious there was a severe staff shortage.

Not what it appears!
We were greeted as if we were a nuisance checking in. We were immediately charged for the privilege of parking in the hotel car park. We checked in at 4.15 pm and were told they couldn’t accommodate us for dinner. The hotel was full of coach parties who clearly got preference. Breakfast was reasonable and the dining room staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful but struggling through under staffing in view of the demand. I wouldn’t stay again.

celebrated our 48 wedding anniversary here.Staff were amazing.Food very good.Staff hardworking and friendly.Highly recommend.Revisiting next year.No air con so take desk fan if weather is hot.

2 Day break in Sandown
The hotel is comfortable although the general condition is tired. There is NO SWIMMING POOL, filled in years ago. The gardens and courtyard are pleasant to sit in for a drink from the bar. The breakfast was not worth £18 charged. A lack of staff. No secure baggage drop, just left in open reception area.

There were so many little things wrong with this hotel. On there own they could be ignored but they soon mount up. No net curtains or fogged windows in bathroom or bedroom meant you got to see ALL of your neighbours if the curtains weren’t closed and vice Versa. Rusty bathroom radiator, and furniture peeling that needs replacing. Breakfast with only one choice of egg - scrambled even when we asked for a fried egg the staff told us ‘we only do one type of egg now’. The staff in the restaurant looked like they wanted to be anywhere but there. The only member of staff of note was the Tuesday night / Wednesday lady who was amazing. But not enough to make up for the lack of sleep from the noisy entertainment when on or the slamming doors. There were other issues but any more and I’d seem petty. If we hadn’t been stuck on an island we would have come home early.

i wouldn't stay again
Hotel room required modernisation. Nice location but dissopointed of the condition of room. i have had 2 rooms - one of them was too hot and smelly. the 2nd one was for nicer small.

Tbh we had seen some negative reviews so we almost cancelled but glad we didn’t as we found the Broadway to be welcoming, clean, loved my room and the breakfast was good quality. Beautiful panelling and lots of original features. Great bar. Only negative was that the bar closed too early as such a lovely setting we could of enjoyed after we returned.

The hotel is lovely in places and shabby in others. Our room was in some 1970's extension with holes in the walls, stains on the carpet, and paper-thin walls in between the rooms. So disappointing. Avoid at all costs!

Sadly hotel needs money spent on it.
Sadly - Not good TV did not work. It took half an hour on phone to ask reception to bring new batteries. Still did not work. Extractor did not switch off in shower. Very loud at night. I asked for room to be serviced on Sat. Was not done so had to ask for more tea bags. Price was reasonable for state of room.
