    The Shack is a classic, original 1950s beach cottage that has been stylishly renovated and well equipped for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The house is perfect for a family, or a group of friends if you are happy with bunks. As the cottage also has a small footprint, it is perfect for a couple as well.

    Strictly no parties at this property – please. You will be evicted if this rule is broken.

    Summer Season 26/27 (18 December to 21 January)

    7 night minimums apply for the 3 week blocks below. To book, select these exact dates:

    - Arrive: Saturday 19 Dec | Depart: Saturday 26 Dec
    - Arrive: Sunday 27 Dec | Depart: Sunday 3 Jan
    - Arrive: Monday 4 Jan | Depart: Monday 11 Jan

    For the rest of Summer Season, a 3 night minimum applies.

    Where will I be?

    The Shack is located at Palm Beach on the waterfront reserve of St Georges Basin. You have private access to the reserve and also the local playground and BBQ area.

    Why choose The Shack?

    This is an original 1950s retro cottage beautifully renovated and decorated. It has a waterfront location and a lovely setting, near Palm Beach.

    How is the property laid out?

    The Shack comprises three bedrooms and an open plan living and dining area with reverse cycle air-conditioning. As you enter the house you have combined laundry and bathroom on your left (with washer and dryer), before you make your way into the open plan living and dining area. The kitchen has all the mod cons needed while away on holidays, including a dishwasher. Down the hallway are the three bedrooms. Main with a queen and the other two have split bunks - ideal for young children. Facing the waterfront you have a large open entertaining deck and boat shed with direct access to the waterfront reserve. The yard is fully fenced.

    Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV - will I have it?

    This particular property does not offer Wi-Fi. If you bring an internet dongle with you, the best network is generally Telstra. Otherwise, it's best to use your smartphone only during your stay or find a local cafe that offers free Wi-Fi. The Holidays Collection is committed to getting all owners to provide Wi-Fi at their property, but this is still work in progress!

    What about outdoors?

    A large backyard and entertaining deck make this house perfect for outdoor living.

    Staying warm or keeping cool?

    The Shack has split system air-conditioning along with a combustion fireplace in the living area. Please BYO firewood and starters. There also electric heaters in the bedrooms.

    What about sheets, towels and other supplies?

    Linen is supplied at The Shack. Please however remember to bring your own beach towels!

    Parking for cars, boats etc?

    The yard is large enough to park a boat or up to 2 cars.

    Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay?

    The Shack is not pet friendly. Please contact us for a list of our many pet-friendly options!

    What are the minimum stay rules?

    - Summer Season: Between 2 and 7 nights, depending on the property
    - Easter: 4 nights
    - Long Weekends: 3 nights
    - All other times: 2 nights

    Are there any special Summer Season rules?

    Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays.

Lovely place with a great view

It's a lovely place with a great view. The outside deck is really nice with plenty of trees around and birds, specially kookaburras. The house is nicely kept and has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.

Great stay!

The house is located on a quiet street. It has a great view of the water, with the occasional kangaroo hopping by! The kitchen has pretty much everything you could need, lots of plates and bowls. Bunk bedrooms are small, but are all that they need to be. BBQ outside on the deck was fabulous. Would stay again!

Location, location, location!

We enjoyed our short but sweet stay at The Shack. The waterfront was a hop, skip and a jump away from our back yard so we could go swimming anytime we wanted and did not have to worry about parking. The Shack has all the comforts of home but with only one bathroom, it is really only suited to a family of four. The BBQ (which needed a good clean) was the only item used on the entertainment deck as it was too hot to sit outside with no cover/shade from the summer sun. However going outside in the early mornings and late afternoons made it possible to lie on the two sun lounges and enjoy a good book (and/or drink). There are no flyscreens on the windows in the main bedroom nor on the slide doors leading outside from the living area so letting in the fresh air also means letting in unwanted guests such as mozzies and flies. The lights in one of the kids' bedrooms did not work at all and there were dead bugs in the runners of the sliding doors, however these were minor inconveniences. Seeing the kangaroos that also call this area home as well as the general quietness and friendliness of the locals made this an enjoyable stay for us.

Stayed for 3 overnights and we all enjoyed our time in there, nicely renovated so very modern inside although still has that nice old beach shack feel externally, has amazing views over the bay, this is a really kids- friendly place, my daughter got never bored because of many DVDs, books, games and toys already stored in the house
