Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Sancos?
The best area to stay in Sancos is generally within the town centre, particularly around the Plaza de Armas.

This central area is the heart of Sancos, offering easy access to local amenities and cultural sites. You'll find the main church, municipal buildings, and many local eateries clustered around the Plaza de Armas, making it a convenient base for exploring. The streets here are typically well-maintained and provide a pleasant environment for a stroll.

For couples seeking a quiet and authentic experience, staying near the Plaza de Armas is ideal. It allows for relaxed evenings enjoying local cuisine and the town's gentle pace, with the convenience of having everything within walking distance. You can easily visit the local market or simply enjoy people-watching from a café.

Solo travellers will also appreciate the central location for its accessibility and the ability to easily connect with local life.
When is the best time to go to Sancos?
The best time to visit Sancos is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.

During these months, you can expect clear skies and warm, sunny days with average temperatures around 20-25°C (68-77°F). This makes it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Ayacucho region, including the nearby waterfalls and hiking trails. The comfortable weather is great for outdoor activities without the worry of heavy rainfall.

The shoulder months of April and November can also be a good option. While there's a slightly higher chance of rain, you'll find fewer crowds and potentially more favourable prices for accommodation and tours. The landscape can be particularly lush and green during these transition periods.

We generally recommend avoiding the wet season, from December to March, as heavy rains can make some roads impassable and limit outdoor exploration.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Sancos.
How much is the nightly rate at a Sancos hotel?
Prices for hotels in Sancos often vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $20 on Expedia. All sorts of factors affect price, such as the time of year or the days of the week you choose for your stay. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for the cheapest rate.
