The property is gated with off-street parking. This unique guest house offers one bedroom with a queen bed, and a full size sofa bed in the living room. Windows in every room look out into the oaks, where you can see deer, squirrels, and occasional rabbits. The cottage was built with the finest materials, including slate roof with copper gutters, bamboo and slate floors, granite counter tops, tumbled marble shower, and maple cabinets. A deck with glass railing encircles the entire house. There is a full kitchen with refrigerator, gas cook top, True convection oven, and dishwasher. Wireless high speed Internet and cable are included. The Bay View Cottage is just 2 miles from charming downtown San Rafael, and about the same distance to mountain biking, hiking, and picnicking at China Camp State Park. Don't feel like cooking? The neighborhood grocery store is about a 10 minute walk from the cottage, and their deli offers an extensive selection of salads, sandwiches and pizzas, as well as complete gourmet meals. The wine selection is incredible. PLEASE NOTE: Guests have use of the hot tub, which is on the deck of the main house. You may use it most any time; just give us advance notice. The place was excellent! First, if you’re a nature lover (especially from other regions of the country), just wow! The place is nestled amongst the trees which create a dense canopy above, with some views of the boats on the bay. Got the chance to trail run at the nearby China Camp State Park and loved it. Second, the house’s construction is downright fascinating; always something to look at and ponder on what a labor of love it was to build. Loved that half of the house was surrounded with windows from floor to ceiling, which made enjoying the outdoors and views so accessible. The house was outfitted with everything we needed to enjoy living there and was appointed very well. Finally, enjoyed our short visits with our gracious host, Joe, who was willing to share some of his story, including the houses construction journey, which was substantial. Thanks to Joe and family for helping us create such a wonderful experience! Highly recommend the Garden Cafe and Miracle Mile Cafe in San Rafael for breakfast too! I especially loved the quiet and secluded location of the cottage. The interiors are thoughtfully appointed and designed, providing a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. All the amenities I needed were available, including an ironing board, iron, fridge, and toaster. It was delightful to sit on the deck and relax in the sun. Even small details such as bathroom towels and bathroom tissue were of premium quality! I had a bit of trouble finding the correct driveway at night, but you can locate the house number on the mailbox just before the driveway. It's clear that the rental is managed with care and love, ensuring a wonderful experience for all fortunate guests! ##### Rob K.
