This property was definitely a hidden jewel. It is remote and about a 40 min golf cart ride from San Pedro. Great restaurant/bar on-site (Tropical Escape) the food was delicious!

Awesome boutique spot in a great location
First day was amazing from check in to check out. The staff are awesome super friendly feels like family. The rooms are super clean and gorgeous. Location is great and you have your own dock to get picked up from for Tours . Really easy and mellow and beautiful. great beach and pool Food at the restaurant is also top-notch. It’s small and a little more secluded than some of the bigger resorts so if that’s what you’re looking for it’s perfect.

The place was amazing! The people were amazing and super friendly. It was a super clean stay, the towels even smelled amazing. They cleaned the property every morning to make it look new. All th good was amazing. Highly recommend stay.

Property is bit far from the main hustle and bustle. We have rented a golf cart during our entire stay. Last part of the journey to the property is a mud road. Its a very nice property right on the beach. We stayed at the individual cottages. It has a full kitchen if you would like to cook your own meal. Overall we had a great stay.

This was our first trip to Belize and San Pedro. Everything about this place was just what we needed. We, unknowingly had an ocean front villa, views right from bed were absolutely stunning! The rooms are clean, water is a bit of a struggle but I’m sure that’s to be expected and didn’t bother us a bit. Staff was off the charts from the first foot stepped on the property till we checked out. Full of local knowledge, advice, and good conversation. Food is decent as well and the beach out front is nice. The pool is a bit on the smaller side but it was never an issue. If you are a Secret Beach seeker, this is a fairly close proximity. If you want to be in town all the time then it’s about 35-40min golf cart ride one way. We will definitely be back!

The absolute best part of the resort is its solitude and amazing service at the adjoining restaurant. All the guys at Tropical Escape are friendly and attentive and serve up awesome drinks! The restaurant had the best food on the island. Thank you, Chef! The room itself is super cute and functional. I loved the decor and water cooler. The kitchen is also nicely stocked. Great bathroom, too. The gardeners work all day in the heat making the grounds and beach look just lovely. What a beautiful oasis around the pool. We really loved hanging out in the pool. We cleaned the bugs out ourselves one day and requested chemicals when it appeared cloudy, but otherwise it was fine. Snorkeled out front and saw a shark! The sargassum is no joke. The smell wafts through the hotel area and permeates the room sometimes. It’s a shame. The hotel workers do what they can to mitigate it, but chances are, you will smell rotten eggs/sewage. The whole island is affected. Aside from the odor, the one major disappointment was the unexpected “resort fee.” Nowhere in Expedia did I see this fee mentioned. It definitely was not explained to us at check in. So while we enjoyed ourselves, that was an unexpected charge at the end of our stay. Take bug spray and use it. My daughter was eaten alive. My husband and I faired better than she did. It’s a healthy drive to the resort. Be sure to get a new golf cart with shocks! Lastly, the locals love the place and pop in to eat all the time.

Belize dream busted 😡
As soon as we got to san pedro, the smell everywhere was horrible.. it smelled of rotton sewer & add heat to it makes it worse.. the whole 15 min golf cart ride to hidden jewel hotel was horrible.. the filth layung everywhere and the awful smell.. after a 40 yr dream of going to belize, i was so disappointed, i had never seen that kind of living.. I just did not look or smell anything like i had expected.. Then we get to hidden jewel resort, check in, staff was wonderful and nice. We get to our room and it is warm so i immediately look for the air conditioning.. i look up to see that there is a current up to date ac unit, the staff informed me that they had just turned it on and that the room would cool down. I also noticed 2 big ceiling fans as well that were both on.. The room was visually beautiful just like the pictures on their website. So we started settling in & unpacking. My husband went to take a shower to wash the day off & relax, turned the water on in shower & it smelled worse than what we were smelling outside. He decided he would smell worse by taking the shower so chose not to.. Long story shorter, the room never cooled off and the water in our room from all faucets smelled like sewer. We checked out the next morning and went to another hotel..

As you know the sargassum situation is affecting beach front property worldwide. Unfortunately this is mother nature and out of our control. The smell you experienced is due to the sargassum build up on the beaches. We hate to know that your Belizean vacation was not up to your expectations. We are also experiencing excessive heat that is quite unusual for this time of the year which is our rainy season. We have taken into account your experience and are in the process of changing the unit to a larger unit which we predict will help with keeping the thatched roof unit at a cooler temperature. We have also addressed the water quality in your unit and have corrected the issue. We hope that your vacation although not with us concluded positively.

We really enjoyed our stay and plan to go back this year! It is a clean well managed property and we loved the location! Just far enough outside of town and it puts you in line to take the road out to Secret Beach!

Vraiment excellent
Vraiment un excellent endroit, tout était parfait RARE. Seul bémol nous avions la meilleure chambre avec terrasse avec vue sur l’océan, malheureusement le vent était de la partie pendant tout notre séjour. Mais l’hôtel est très bien placé pour aller à Secret Beach de l’autre côté sur le Lagon assez bien protégé du vent et à 1/4 H en golfcart.
