We liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Since the place is not in downtown San Pedro they owner always gave us rides out from and back to the hotel.

Family run, very helpful but needs work
Rustic, peaceful. Room clean and comfortable, outdoors need a lot of work. Very friendly and helpful: paid for taxi into town when we had no local cash, booked Calama airport transfer $7US from hotel when more expensive from San Pedro bus station. Quite a way out of town, not really walkable.

Dear Paul, thank you for your comment, our exteriors were a bit damaged because we suffered a big storm a few days before your arrival, and we prioritized the rooms to be able to give you a comfortable stay in this state of emergency. the service of transfer to the airport has a value of 20 usd, however we respect the wrong price of 7 usd for you and we correct this information in our page, the taxis from the lodge to the town have a value of 7 usd approximately. Old and tired, far away, overpriced. Rude owner.
The place is really far away from the town. Tour operators won’t pick you up and taxis will hesitate to take you there because the road is very bad. The place itself is ok but way too expensive for what it offers. It is old and messy. Breakfast doesn’t include fresh fruit or vegetables, coffee is served late and cold. No air-con in the rooms - and opening the window is an invitation to mosquitoes... Water supply is unstable. But the worst is the attitude of the owner. The lady is unprofessional and almost rude. We were shocked - and this is not a cultural difference thing, I am a Latin myself. No wonder the place is on sale.

Not a good hotel at all
I will not recommend this hotel at all. Not only is so far away removed from the centrum of tge town, its super tiny, cold water etc. The staff was nice, but the hotel was not nice at all.

Peaceful corner in SPD Atacama
Lovely place, peaceful the people working in the Hostal were pretty helpful and they make sure you have a nice stay. Rooms are cozy and clean, breakfast yummy. Mauricio the Hostal facilitator organised complimentary lifts to the town of SPD Atacama, so being away from the center didn't bother us. He also organised our tours, "combo Tours" which absolutely cover most of the places you want to visit when you are only there for 5 nights. We fully recommend this place

The staff makes the difference
This is kind of like high end camping. The rooms are not posh but pleasant. Breakfast is wonderful and the kitchen area is open throughout the day for guests to use as self serve. For the area, the internet was okay.

AT first I was disappointed with the hotel when we arrrived, but the staff was very friendly and once we were familiar with the grounds it was acceptable. The room was small but adequate. There was a slight odor in the bathroom, not terrible, but noticable. The grounds were somewhat under repair. The outdoor jacuzzi needs upgrading. The biggest drawback to this hotel is the location. It is 10 minutes by auto on poor roads from downtown San Pedro. All in All it is a reasonable alternative to the very expensive in-town hotels if you have your own vehicle.

zen oasis in the middle of the desert
Ruka Zen was one of the best romantic hideaways we have ever stayed. English speaking, friendly, attentive staff was going far and beyond to accommodate every guests’ wishes. Thumbs up!

Lugar maravilloso 👏
Si buscas un lugar tranquilo, alejado de toda bulla es un excelente lugar, super acogedor una piscina genial para disfrutar. Las habitaciones tienen de todo, el desayuno con muchas variedades, las personas muy acogedoras. En pocas palabras un lugar maravilloso para descansar luego de salir a recorrer.

Es lugar es muy rústico, totalmente conectada con San Pedro de Atacama. Apesar de que la ubicación es lejos del pueblo, se puede llegar caminando y en vehículo cómodamente. El servicio de limpieza muy bueno y ordenado. Me encanto, lo recomiendo

Die Unterkunft war sauber, es war ein schönes Zimmer und es war sehr ruhig. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und die Leute waren sehr nett. Man kann sich hier sehr wohl fühlen, das Schwimmbad mit Liegebereich ist schön zum entspannen.

Amazing stay! The staff were so friendly, the pool area was nice (even though the pool was a bit dirty), we borrowed the bicycles, you could cook in the kitchen and the breakfast was lovely. If we ever come back to San Pedro we will definitely stay here again! It´s a bit far from the city centre, but we didn´t mind.

Excelente en casi todos los sentidos, un trato muy bueno, muy hermoso lugar y gran calidad en sus instalaciones. Es un hotel pequeño, por lo que carece de algunos servicios pero a cambio estás como en casa. La única pega que es mejor ir con coche propio por la distancia al centro. Aunque la propietaria está disponible para ir a buscar a la gente si le es posible.

Muy buena experiencia
El lugar es para un real descanso, super comoda la habitación y limpia. El agua de la ducha excelente y las camas muy agradables. El desayuno también fue muy bueno, y el día que fuimos al Tatio nos prepararon desayuno para llevar.

LA ESTADÍA FUE EXCELENTE, EL LUGAR HERMOSO, EXCELENTE ATENCION, SOBE TODO DE LUIS, QUIEN ES EL ENCGADO DE LA MANTENCION DEL LODGE. Cet hébergement était très bien, nous avons été accueilli par des gens très sympathiques toujours là pour rendre service. L'hébergement est un peu excentré mais c'est la tranquillité absolu, et surtout la détente avec la piscine. Nous avions des vélos à notre disposition, donc nous avons fait beaucoup de visite à vélo qui étaient en très bon état. Tous nos déplacements pour nous rendre à San Pedro nous les avons fait à vélo c'était très agréable de vrais vacances.Lorsque nous avions besoin d'un taxi, ils l'ont appelé pour nous, c'était pratique et pas cher. Je recommande cet hébergement car il est vraiment très agréable, très propre, et surtout très calme nous y avons séjourné un peu plus d'une semaine. Tous les matins un petit déjeuner très complet nous était servi. ( petit déjeuner très agréable et très copieux, avec préparation d’œuf sur le plat pour ceux qui le souhaitait) Vraiment je vous encourage à choisir cet établissement . Christine et Thierry

Charmante Unterkunft mit sehr netter Gastgeberin
Sehr ruhige und sicherte Lage, da etwas weiter weg von Zentrum. Mit den Euro aber kein Problem und Parkplätze hat es genug, sogar am Schatten! Sehr nettes Personal und die Chefin gibt gerne zur Tipps, was es zu sehen gibt und wie es am besten angereist wird.

Hospedagem em San Pedro de Atacama
Decidimos pelo Ruka Zen Lodge (4,8 km do centro) por não encontrarmos mais acomodações disponíveis no centro de San Pedro de Atacama. Apesar de sermos bem atendidos no hotel, consideramos o aspecto "distância do Centro" altamente limitante. A cidade dispõe de um serviço muito precário de táxis e transportes, deixando-nos muitas vezes isolados, sem opção de locomoção.

Vaux le détour avec voiture imperativement
Endroit très atypique ballades autour extraordinaires des paysages fabuleux seul bémol de l'hôtel il faut impérativement une voiture avec GPS car un peu compliqué à trouver et rejoindre le centre mais accueil et hôtel très sympatyque petit déjeuner très bon hôtel calme et décoration soignée

Buen Lugar pero Problemas con la electricidad
El lugar es muy bonito, el desayuno muy hogareño, Lorena muy atenta. No cuenta con calefacción en las piezas. Te entregan un termoventilador el cual no funciona porque se cae el sistema de luz en cada momento. Está muy alejado del pueblo por lo que ningún transfer de los tour llega a buscarte.

Demasiado lejos de San Pedro
La estancia en el hotel no fue todo lo satisfactoria que nos hubiese gustado principalmente por la ubicación del mismo. Su distancia a San Pedro de Atacama te hace depender de transporte público (taxi, no hay autobuses) cada vez que te quieres mover. Para solventar esto te facilitan un número de taxi al que llamar y su precio no es nada barato. En favor de la dueña, Loreto, tengo que decir que una vez nos fallo el taxi y ella personalmente vino a recogernos al pueblo. Precisamente por su ubicación hay agencias de tours que no se acercan a recogerte al hotel. Deberían dar un servicio de taxi sin coste para el cliente para mejorar el problema que crea su ubicación. Un saludo.

Very hospitable and kind. Good service! Bikes free to use to go to the town (10-15 minutes). English speaking hostess. Small but adequate pool, free and working WiFi, free bottled water, good breakfast. Three friendly dogs. Good price-quality balance. We would go there again if we revisited San Pedro de Atacama.
