This is a great place to stay if you’d like to visit Costa Rica and really experience the city in a way tourists don’t usually get to. Warren was a fantastic host and will help you find whatever you are looking for. He was even available to take us on tours out of the city, all you have to do is negotiate a price (he was as good as any tour guide and less pricey!) I loved the stay there and was very thankful to find this hidden gem.

If you are looking for a way to experience the real Costa Rica instead of a resort you won't find anything better than Eco Hotel Puerto Urbana. Warren was available for tours throughout the city and valley, we just had to negotiate the cost for his time. He showed us San Jose the way tourists never get to see. He showed us markets we never would have found and took us to eat in restaurants we never would have known about otherwise. He was an excellent tour guide and a pleasure to spend time with. The price point was amazing but you are staying in a home with some history and Warren can tell you stories about all kinds of things related to San Jose. We didn't want a sterile, exploitative resort experience...we wanted to learn about the real Costa Rica and Warren's hostel (more like a Bed and Breakfast) was a hidden treasure we were lucky to find. Thank you for everything! I look forward to staying with you again one day!

I had booked for two nights but stayed only one, and the only reason I stayed that one night was because it was late when I arrived. My room had a door to it but one wall did not meet the ceiling; there was a gap about 6 inches in width and 12 inches long at the top! When I pointed this out to the owner he said it was for "air flow". The hotel was right next to a busy street so that gap allowed for all the noise of buses, motorcycles, cars, people, etc. to flow into my room, along with the air. In addition, the sheets had a hole or two in them and everything was old and worn. There was no A/C, only a fan that I had to ask for. It was a horrible place, in my opinion! Oh, and I had to pay for the second night even though I didn't stay.

The hotel owner was incredibly friendly, as well as the other folks living at the hotel. However, it lacked warm water and a shower curtain, and was a bit noisy at times. Still a great place to stay a few days!

The room was too small and smelled like 10 gallons of bleach. Like they were hiding something. We only stayed there 2 hours which was 2 hours too long. He made me pay $85.00 to get out of there when the nightly rate on Expedia was $36.00 per night. I would give a worse review if I could. I was ripped off and do NOT want anyone else to be sucked in.

HolaSeñora PamelaLamentamos mucho su situación con respecto a su corta estadía en el hotel.Su ingreso fue mucho antes de la hora del check in para poder ayudarla debido a su llegada al país en horas tempranas.El olor que tenía la habitación fue debido a los químicos que utilizamos para la desinfección total de posibles germenes o bacterias llevando a cabo el protocolo estándar de limpieza. Usted nos solicitó el ingreso a la habitación s temprano a las 11 de la mañana y se sabe que el ingreso oficial es a la 1 pm.Con respecto al cobro fue todo bajo las normas de Expedia. Usted pidió la cancelación de la reserva y su pago fue de 85usd por el día de ingreso y la política de 24 horas antes.Por lo tanto su cobro se hizo bajo las normas de Expedia.comDe dos noches más los impuestos del país.Se despide de ustedHotel Manager

This is my first Hostal and would recommend this Hostal. I enjoyed how the owner made you feel at home. When we arrived we were hungry and the owner Warren took us to a delicious local spot. He made sure we were comfortable.

The room was minimal but very clean and had everything we needed. The main plus is the owner, Warren, who is exceptionally friendly and helpful. A truly wonderful human being. There were plenty of places to eat around, and the location was very central yet quiet. A fabulous find!

Warren was a wonderful host. We stayed stayed at the hostel on both sides of our trip to the coast. He was full of great advice for exploring around the city. Homemade breakfast each morning was a perfect way to start each day. I will absolutely be back and stay anytime I am visiting San Jose. I look forward to visiting again soon.

The best thing was Warren, be didn't miss a beat!! Picked us up from the gates of the airport and made us feel welcome showed us the highlights where to explore, gave us a ride to the bus stop and told us to call him for anything for a plan B. His place was safe and secure and walking distance to everything. What more can a girl ask for?? PURA VIDA

My flight coming into San Jose was delayed but communicating with Warren easy through What’s App for the airport shuttle. My stay was quick as I left early in the morning but I felt safe and comfortable.

Great location close to everything you would want to see in San Jose. Warren and Victor were great, wether it be helping me with buses or telling me about a free walking tour, they made me feel at home when I was in San Jose.

Wir hatten einen schönen letzten Tag bei Warren. Er hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen und sich super um uns gekümmert. Zusätzlich hat er uns Tipps gegeben und sogar zum Flughafen gefahren. Ein Herz für Warren. <3
