It is completely detached from the house with separate driveways, parking, and entrances. Ask about discounts when both units are rented together. Great for extended families, couples that want extra privacy, grandparents and larger groups, etc. This classic beach pad is steps to the sand and has incredible beach access as well as direct access to our beautiful 4.3 mile beach trail. Escalones in Spanish means 'steps' this is quite literally the steps apartment. It is steps to the beach and it is at the top of the steps of the property overlooking the neighborhood , street, and with a peek a boo ocean view. The neighbors have a lush tropical palm forest that block a rather nice direct ocean view.From the time you arrive to this cozy and contemporary beach oasis with its off street parking and full laundry facilities it is time to relax. Stroll down to Fisherman's on the pier and enjoy a sunset cocktail and wonderful seafood while perched above the crashing waves. Enjoy the full kitchen and dining room with its brand new dining set. Morning coffee seems to be more enjoyable out on the front balcony taking in the morning sun while watching people make their way down to to the beach via our convenient beach path only yards away. Beach toys Wander down to the beach for some great surf, or to Fisherman’s restaurant on the pier for dinner or sunset cocktails. Or, enjoy our beach trail on bike or on foot. Also, at low tide check out our tide pools, with starfish, sea anemones and muscles. Or, spend hours hunting for sea glass. The rental was in the perfect location. The path to the beach was right down the road! We got to meet the owner when we drove up and he was very helpful in telling us exactly where to park. We drove a large SUV but it was not a problem. The unit was spacious and the area was quiet and cool. We enjoyed our time there! ##### Arlene E. This location is close to the beach, pier and shops or you can just relax. It is neat and clean and has everything you need. Although it was warm when we were there, and there is air conditions available, the overhead fans kept it cool enough. My only suggestion is to replace the floor rugs and couches. We just finished our visit to San Clemente this month. (8/2018). We really liked the town of San Clemente with all the boutiques and nice places to eat! The apartment was clean, and as pictured. The kitchen had everything that we needed, and the owner was nice and left us some water, and allowed us to use the washer and dryer. Our only suggestion for improvement is to please replace the area rugs in the dining room and the living room. They have seen better days, and just look dirty. The air conditioner works great for the front of the apartment, but the bedroom gets quite hot! Even with all the fans going, it was still hot and stuffy in there. Another air conditioning unit in the bedroom would be perfect. The beach is very close, but it is quite Rocky and narrow. Not a lot of room for sunbathing right there. In general however, San Clemente is very charming and the beaches are beautiful! We will definitely return! ##### JONNA F. Pros There was enough space for our family of 4\. There was an air mattress and a couch for our kids. Walk to the beach is less than 5 minutes. The garage is stocked with surf board, boogie board, cooler, chairs, umbrella, bikes, and more. We used these items almost every day. Even if it gets hot during the day, keep the windows open and everything will quickly cool down at night. It took us 40 minutes to drive to Disney on a Tuesday morning. We left SC at 7am. Bob is fantastic. He always responds quickly and is a tremendous host. Cons The beach is beautiful but has lots of rocks. If you are not a seasoned beach person the rocks will likely hurt your feet. The Amtrak train runs frequently. If we didn't have box fans, it would have been difficult sleeping. The neighbors outside the master bedroom sometimes leave their exterior lights on late into the night. If you like sleeping in a dark room, you will need to figure something out to make the room dark...but if you do this, your air flow will be limited. Recommendation to visitors Bring 2 box fans. They help cool the home on hot days and provide white noise for sleeping at night. Bring swimming shoes so the rocks on the beach don't hurt your feet. We had good meals at these restaurants: Selmas Pizza, HC Cottons, and Avila's El Ranchito. ##### Mike C.
