The view is absolutely stunning, there were plenty of linens and towels, a fully stocked kitchen, access to a washer/dryer, and the location is very convenient to town.However, our experience was unfortunately not quite what we expected. When we arrived, the home didn’t appear to have been properly cleaned for quite some time. It felt like it hadn’t been prepared for new guests, which was disappointing and didn’t set a great tone for us. The owner did offer to send the maid over to clean, which we appreciated, but at that point we questioned the maids abilities and we just wanted our privacy.We also had another issue regarding damage to our property but to their credit, the owners were responsive, and everything was resolved fairly by the end of our stay, including a partial refund, which we appreciated.The owners are very friendly and communicative. Just note that the layout includes a shared carport and not too private patio area, so if you’re looking for total seclusion (like we were for a honeymoon), that might be something to consider.Overall, there are definitely positives here and it’s clear that other guests have had wonderful stays. Of course THE VIEW is unbeleivable. The host are the best. If you have issues walking you should rent a car as it's up-hill walking back to the house. We were there 3 weeks so we rented a car from Samara Hot Rental in town and they had the best price. Small car for $70 bucks a day and we drove all over but try to stay on paved road unless you have a 4X4\. We stayed overnight different places and all was good. There are lots of restaurant in Samara. If you want to eat cheap go to what they call a SODA. Besides that our two favorite places to eat with good food and resonable price was at the Sheriff behind police station and the one in the food court which I can't remember the name but it's mostly vegan and the salads are really good and big portions. If you have a sweet tooth go to ROOTS bakerry open for breakfast and lunch. A must see is The Carrillo Beach. About 5-10 minutes drive from the house. Whoever designed that beach deserves an award. It's stunning. Every Saturday morning in Samara is the farmers market which is nice. Ticos are very friendly people and proud of there country with good reason. Jun 19, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Second Honeymoon Stay This was a very special trip for us as we decided to take a second honeymoon and we stayed 12 nights. It was our first trip out of the United States. The view from the balcony was spectacular! Larry and Sherry were wonderful hosts. We SO appreciate them going to Carrillo Beach with us and taking pictures/videoing while we said our renewal vows to each other. That was so special and something we'll never forget. We totally enjoyed them guiding us on a quad ride through the countryside also. What a way to experience the culture and overall beauty of the country. The home was very clean and comfortable. The only problem we experienced was that the refrigerator wasn't working well at all. They tried to get it fixed, but finally had to replace it. They did let us use the small refrigerator in the garage and refunded us some money to make up for the inconvenience. We loved the balcony and private pool! We do recommend a 4-wheel drive as the drive up is partially a rough uphill drive. Nativos Car Rental in Liberia is a great local car rental company and will treat you right. Anibal Morales is the owner and he was fabulous. We went on a few adventures for which both companies picked us up at the house and brought us back. We highly recommend the zipline/sky walk/sky tram tour at Monteverde through the Nature Center in Samara and the dolphin/snorkeling tour through Samara Adventures. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay 2 more weeks! ##### Diane R. VENI, VIDI, VICHI, - We came, we saw, we were smitten by the picture which presented our view. Casa Veranera is delightful, the garden and pool are picturesque and the view over the hills and valley and the beaches and ocean – whoa! But the best was our hosts Larry and Sherry. We came as guests and left as friends. Always helpful and accommodating, not to mention the happy hours – exchanging life’s stores and journeys. Watching the morning glow and sunrise or the crimson colours of the sunsets or the constellations of the night sky while we were cooling off in the pool – what a beauty. Plunging in the pool, standing by the ledge, I felt like the king of the castle looking down over the realm. Carrillo Beach was our favorite, by 8:30 a.m. still deserted, by noon it was “crowded” with about 30 people over the 4 km stretch of fine pale grey/golden sand. The centre of Samara Beach is where the action is with surfers and bronzed bodies but the south beach is more pristine and the place to watch the sun sinking into the ocean. Unless you are the sporty, adventurous type riding buses or bicycles to explore the back country, rent an SUV!! Even in the dry season. Al Manglar became our favorite restaurant. Authentic Italian pizza and gnocchi to die for!And then there are the howler monkeys – first it sounded like wild dogs, but it grows on you. And they came visiting, hanging out in the trees close to the pool. I seems it is the Alpha Male which bellows out their presence while the rest of the family snoozes – except the 3 babies which were playful. Sitting on the balcony I counted about 15 species of birds – and during my walk-abouts I counted many more.Larry and Sherry, thanks for your hospitality and sharing this piece of paradise with us. We will take home with us many wonderful memories – but right now it’s time to dip into the refreshing pool and then it’s off to Carrillo Beach, the most beautiful in all of Costa Rica (according to FODOR’S).All the best wishes,Gerhard and Valerie PaulusBarrie, OntarioP.S.
