I booked two nights for myself and my 12 yr old daughter. I was looking for somewhere with a bit of character, that was away from all the noise and bustle, had a good breakfast to set us up for the day and food available in the evening. I was not disappointed. The Weary Friar was such a great little find, a proper country pub with great food (nothing too fancy), friendly staff and peace and quiet to wake up to. We stayed in The Friar’s Rest, which is a separate cottage just next to the pub. Really peaceful and quiet — perfect for switching off. The cottage was spotless, well looked after, and had everything we needed, including a proper kitchen (though we mostly ate at the pub!). Breakfast was great every morning — decent portions and really good quality. We had dinner there a couple of times as well — can highly recommend the fish and chips. The pub itself is really welcoming, with a nice atmosphere, and the staff were lovely — friendly, helpful, and made everything easy from the moment we arrived. The surrounding area is beautiful, proper countryside. Plenty of parking too, and it was easy to find.
