When we arrived she greeted us at the door, showed us around our room, started a fire in the fireplace. What a gem! Sue Ellen could not have been more welcoming - even making a dinner reservation for us and updating the restaurant because we were running late. Rimu Lodge is delightful. The rooms are large, contemporary yet cosy, beautifully decorated and with lots of little touches such as a turn down service, exquisite bathroom products and fine quality chocolate treats to welcome you. The super king bed was extremely comfortable and my husband and I slept like tops! Our room opened out onto a gorgeous veranda where, weather permitting, you can stargaze at night and relax during the day. We arrived too late for the welcome happy hour drinks to meet our host and other guests, but this was another lovely touch. Breakfast was divine. High quality ingredients, fresh fruits and pastries plus beautifully cooked hot options. Both hubby and I had the French toast which was accompanied by a divine fruit compote. Totally delicious. Sue Ellen was really helpful in providing tips on what to see and do in the area and relating to our onward journey. Thank you Sue Ellen for being so kind and attentive. We really felt that it was important to you that we enjoyed our stay and we appreciate the effort you made on our behalves. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rimu Lodge. Absolutely loved it here - was the best place we stayed on our trip by far! Beautiful location and every room had a gorgeous view. Very quiet (there are only 4 rooms) and charming! The owner was friendly, helpful with suggesting places to sight-see, and very thoughtful in providing every amenity. Breakfast was perfect.
