The best areas to stay in Ruaha National Park are within the park itself, particularly along the Great Ruaha River or its tributaries, for prime wildlife viewing.Staying within the park offers unparalleled access to wildlife. The central part of the park, especially areas close to the Great Ruaha River, Mwagusi River, and Jongomero River, is where you'll find the highest concentration of animals. Many lodges are strategically placed along these water sources, giving you excellent opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species coming to drink. For wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, staying near the riverbeds is ideal. These areas are known for their dense wildlife populations, particularly during the dry season when animals congregate around the remaining water sources. You'll often find lodges here offering morning and afternoon game drives directly from your accommodation, maximising your time in the bush.Couples looking for a romantic and secluded experience will appreciate the lodges further away from the main river, often located in quieter riverine forests or on elevated kopjes. These locations provide stunning views and a more intimate safari experience, with fewer vehicles and a profound sense of wilderness.
