Rovereto is a charming settlement in the lush green Vallagarina Valley of the Adige River. Commemorate the fallen from wars at the remarkable Bell of the Fallen. The large structure on Miravalle Hill chimes 100 times every evening in memory of the victims of wars in every nation. It was constructed in 1924 using bronze from the cannons of every country that participated in World War I.
The small exhibit area has a photography display and a video on the bell’s history. Stroll through the woods to reach the Dante Castle Shrine, which contains the remains of 20,000 soldiers.
Visit the town centre and sit at a café with some drinks. The town lies 17 miles (27 kilometres) south of Trento in northern Italy in the Italian Alps. Take the train that passes regularly between communes. Fly to Verona Villafranca Airport, 50 miles (80 kilometres) south of the town.
