It has been developed and improved over the years, whilst it has always been sympathetic to the original architecture, making this a wonderfully characterful historic home. And a home it truly is, with interior decor created with a view to comfort and history. Following the local architecture trend inspired by Venetian architects this House was renovated by local craftsmen with commitment, enthusiasm and respect. Standing as a fortress, the house is surrounded by high stone walls which enclose its authenticity inside. The result is a delightful haven with the space of a manor house and the feel of calmness and rejuvenation. From the magnificent wooden door entrance bearing the family coat of arms, guest will review the strictly rectangular shape of the manor and the traditional old wooden roof with Venetian style arcs and carved stones, which have been reconstructed with every attention to detail, ensuring the traditional style is maintained. Utterly delightful; No other words will do. A dream hideaway in the beautiful village of Koumoi, with easy access to both South and North beaches of Crete. It’s 18km away from Rethymnon City and 18km from Plakias and Preveli beaches. The elaborate stone walls, the traditional lintel folding windows, the large stone arcs and the stone-built arches are all unique characteristics of the impressive local architecture which was deeply inspired by Venetians. Where the interior décor takes inspiration from nature’s palette – fresh, colourful and inviting…Penthe Manor House lends itself to multi-generational get togethers, special gatherings and corporate escapes. This is the perfect base from which to explore the area while experiencing the joys of living in a house that has been part of that history over the years. Internal Living | Bedrooms & Bathrooms The seamlessly constructed inner spaces and the internal decoration with unique and carefully selected furniture and light fixtures, the tall ceilings with their wooden beams and the intricate wooden staircases are perhaps best compared to an art installation rather than an architectural structure, and they are key in creating an intimate atmosphere that transports visitors back to the previous centuries. The spacious living areas on the ground and first floor have independent entrances internally and they communicate externally through the spacious balcony with a stone staircase, as well as on the ground level via the courtyard entrance. A wonderfully decorated bedroom is located on the first floor, boasting a mezzanine bedroom with a Queen Size bed (1,60x2,00), lightened up with natural light from the windows and with direct access to the balcony with patio furniture. In addition, there is a uniquely designed area with a sofa bed (with real mattresses, 0,90x2,00), where two more guests can be accommodated. From there, a staircase leads to the upper floor where the guests will be welcomed by the mezzanine bedroom. The three remaining bedrooms are located on the second floor. Following a wooden staircase you will be welcomed by the first bedroom, featuring a Queen Size bed (1,60x2,00), lightened up with natural light from the windows. There is also a sofa bed available in the bedroom, (with real mattresses, 0,90x2,00), where two more guests can be accommodated. Last but not least, guests will be welcomed by the two further bedrooms on the second floor, both featuring single beds (0,90x2,00) and lightened up with natural light from the windows. Both of the bedrooms offer direct access to the roof terrace. Bonus: There is a Pool Table (Billiard| 6feet) available, designed for all skill levels and provides entertainment for your whole family. The house has a centuries-old history and has been perfectly renovated. Spacious rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, brand new bathrooms, excellent cleanliness and a beautiful exterior with a swimming pool overlooking a valley of olive trees. The house is situated on the heights of the beautiful village of Koumi, where it is pleasant to walk among fig and pomegranate trees. The people of this small village are friendly and welcoming. It is a twenty minute drive from the beaches of Plakias and Preveli and from Rethymno. Special thanks to Miss Irini who welcomed us with extreme kindness and professionalism. Wunderbares Haus und die besten Vermieter Der Urlaub in diesem Haus und der Umgebung war wunderbar. Die Vermieter (Familie aus dem Dorf) haben uns herzlich empfangen. Nach einer langen Anreise waren wir erfreut, einen Kühlschrank mit Getränken und frischem Obst vorzufinden. Außerdem standen uns köstliche lokale Produkte wie Öl, Rotwein oder Raki zur Verfügung (teils aus eigener Produktion). Darüber hinaus wartete zur Begrüßung ein landestypischer Auflauf auf uns. Die Familie war sehr freundlich und hat uns jederzeit ihre Hilfe in allen Fragen angeboten (z.B. Tipps zu Unternehmungen oder genialen Restaurants). Das Haus ist ein ehemalige "Winzerei", welche nach einem aufwendigen Umbau selbst im Hochsommer im Innenbereich stets angenehm temperiert gewesen ist (zur Not ist jedes Schlafzimmer zudem mit einer Klimaanlage ausgestattet). Fliegengitter inklusive. Die Einrichtung ist sehr hochwertig und stilvoll gewesen. Aufgefallen ist vor allem ein hoher Grad an Reinlichkeit. Zudem wurde das komplette Haus nach einer Woche gründlich (nach Rücksprache) gereinigt und Wäsche ausgetauscht. Highlight ist sicher der große Pool, welcher beinahe täglich gereinigt wurde. Die Umgebung ist typisch für Kreta, wundervolle Strände sind mit dem Auto problemlos über befestigte Straßen innerhalb von 25 Minuten zu erreichen. Zum Einkaufen (Supermarkt, Bäcker) ist das nahegelegene größere Dorf (10 Minuten mit dem Auto) locker ausreichend. Die größere Stadt Rethymno ist 20 min entfernt. Wir bedanken uns für diesen wunderbaren Aufenthalt und die unendlich große/herzliche Gastfreundschaft. Wir würden uns immer wieder für diese Location entscheiden. Vielen Dank! ##### Benjamin L. Everything was perfect : confortable and lovely villa, pool and mountains view, nice neighbours. House was very clean.
