We joined IHG and were allowed to check in early. Parking in the basement, walked to Christmas market at Thurn &Taxis then downtown. Great hotel, great. Location. Breakfast included!

My room smelt of sickand needed to be changed.
My welcome at reception was not really a welcome, no 'hello, how can I help, hope you enjoy your stay etc' I doesn't take much. My cleanliness rating is based upon the first room that I was allocated (301) having to be changed as soon as I opened the door there was a bad smell of wet/sick carpets. This should have already been identified and the room not allocated. When I went back to reception, the response was poor, just a 'so you want a different room then?'. No apologies. The second room was fine and clean as expected. My eco rating is because TVs in all Holiday Inns, including this one are still left on standby. The breakfast and restaurant staff were very good.

We visited this hotel while attending the Christmas Market in the old town.The old town was an easy 15 minute walk away.The area was quiet.Parking in the under ground was safe and convenient.The rooms were spacious clean and modern.The breakfast was a nice touch and a great start to the day. Perfect location for exploring the wonderful town of Regensburg

This Holiday Inn was a pleasant and place to stay. It was within walking distance of the old town which is what we wanted. There were stores and restaurants close by, but the grocery stores were closed on Sunday. The only thing we didn’t like is paying 15 euros for overnight parking.

The hotel room and breakfast were lovely. The service was terrible. We arrived at the desk at 8:15 pm. No one was there - no other patrons, just me - yet no one would help check me in. A loud party was going on quite close to the desk. Between the check in counter and the party was a small bar. Three hotel staff were busily filling endless large drinks for the partiers. They did not come help me, though they saw me. I asked if they would help, but still they made me stand there waiting. My husband and friends were waiting in our vehicle across the road. I wanted to ask where to park the car. Eventually I was told to drive around the block and park under the hotel. So began the real nightmare. We parked underground and then spent the next 20 minutes dragging our luggage around in the underground lot trying to figure out how to get up to the hotel. The elevators did not go to the floor where the hotel reception was located. We tried various staircases, lugging our gear up and down, worrying we would be locked in a corridor. Others were searching with us by now - all very frustrated. At last we found a small corridor that led to a locked door with a bell, signed Holiday Inn. Ringing the bell would access a door that led to the appropriate elevator. We rang and rang it but the reception staff wouldn’t answer. They were too busy looking after the bar and the party guests. A very nice hotel close to the train-station and city center. Everything is walkable from the hotel. The breakfast is great, the rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. We will stay in the Holiday Inn Express Regensburg again, when we are back in Germany next year!

Still highly recommend!
Great hotel, parking was outstanding for a large SUV, and the location was very walkable! Only 2 downsides. We had the AC on high, but it never really got cool, which made it hard to sleep. Also, when we arrived in the room there was a dead month on the end table by the bed. Unsure if it got overlooked while cleaning, or if the insect had died after the cleaning, but was certainly an wanted surprise. Still highly recommend staying here during cooler months!
