"Very special hotel"
This is a lovely small hotel in a quiet village location. Room simple but very comfortable except for the organic essential oils offered as a feature by the management. Smell actually quite unpleasant and not good for people with scent sensitivities. Lovely small, heated pool. Dinner was exceptional for both food and service plus interesting local wines. However, there was only one choice on the menu and quite a large supplement for a substitution. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, a great start to our visit to France.

"A wonderful little town centre hotel"
Looking for a town centre hotel and found this wonderful place which was full of unique character. Nicely located in the centre off a side street, the reception area and rooms have a lovely distinctive style which is very welcoming. Car parking is available but is some way away from the hotel, but it is secure and within easy walking distance. Castres is a beautiful little town and well worth a visit.

"Wonderful owners"
We stayed here for a couple of days prior to boating on the Canal du Midi. It is very close to two supermarkets which allowed us to stock up for the boat trip. There is a very well regarded restaurant nearby, but the food in the restaurant at Clos Fleuri is excellent. The French owners are husband and wife, assisted by their son, who are slowly improving the hotel and its amenities, and could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We arrived after lunch one day and were offered a delicious light meal as we had not eaten all day. We ate beside the swimming pool in the new outside dining area which was delightful. The whole place is kept scrupulously clean, including the bedrooms and bathrooms. The room we had was simple and comfortable. Our hosts very kindly drove us several times into town, and at the end of our stay, and even offered to return later to collect us and our luggage to drive us to the boat. No hosts could have been more kind or accommodating. We would not hesitate to return.

"Wonderful wacky boutique four star historic hotel"
I wanted somewhere different to go with my partner. I chose this place simply because of the location (right in the heart of the Mediaeval City of Castres), the 4 stars, and the price for a combined flights and room package. The sat nav took us on a bit of a jaunt around the City but we homed in on the place. Even from outside you could see it was somewhere special. The man on reception came out and gave us help getting to a free, and very safe, parking area - virtually outside the hotel but on the other side of a pair of pedestrian bollards! Then we went in.... Wow! It is almost impossible to describe the interior of the hotel. There are wonderful objets in every nook and cranny. Mannequins in costume, a grand piano, swish drapes, all kinds of subtle lights, beautiful pictures, and photographs of the proprietors with the famous artists, film-stars, theatre performers, and writers that have stayed with them over the last five years or so. Our room was on the second floor, and was a good size, with all the things you would expect in a good hotel room... And then the rest! The bed was a queen sized four poster with net drapes. One wall was decorated with a rainforest scene. Opposite was a bird cage with three (imitation) parrots. The pictures were classic photographic art in keeping with the theme. Every room in the hotel is decroated differently ranging from sumptious pre-Revolution, to Eastern influences, to the swinging Parisian scene of the 1900s and so on.

Hotel Le Miredames

1 Place Roger Salengro, Castres - Map
We arrived at ten p.m. On Bastille Day. The streets were barricaded for fireworks displays, and our GPS could not find an open route. I called the hotel, and explained our impossible situation. My brother hiked to the Hotel Miredames and he journeyed back, accompanied by a hotel staff member who navigated our car safely to the hotel and a parking space! We were overjoyed and overwhelmed by this incredible service. And we had time enough to move our luggage into the lobby and still see the fireworks and the celebrations that followed. Furthermore, the Hotel is delightfully and creatively decorated and impeccably for clean.

"Very interesting unique historic building"
The first room we had was a standard room with a lovely view over parklands but unfortunately we experienced some noises from the toilet system I guess because it is a old building however we were moved to another room which was very satisfactory. It was disappointing not to have tea and coffee facilities and a hair dryer but I believe that is normal in France. Staff spoke English and were very helpful. Enjoyed the warm quiet swimming pool. Soreze is a very quaint sleepy village which is very interesting but you need to travel for restaurants etc.
