Property has some loud construction going on during the day, and it is a very noisy at all hours, motorcycles, dogs, cats. Breakfast was nice and it is close to Playa Mann.

I really wanted to like this hotel, especially since the staff was so kind. But the truth is, it left a lot to be desired. We found the beds to be pretty uncomfortable, and the AC unit worked but was rather old and took a while. The Wifi didn't work great, but that might be par for the course on the islands. There's also a very easy-to-miss ledge in the bathroom that they should probably put a warning sign on. Even before we took any food out, we had ants coming in by the window. I realize this isn't the hotel's fault, but our breaking point was how noisy it got at night. It's hard to sleep in an uncomfortable bed when an aspiring musician is playing the drums ALL NIGHT. On a positive note, I did appreciate the breakfast service. And the walk into town wasn't too far. If you're just staying here for a night or two and looking to save money, it's really not bad. But I wouldn't recommend staying for a long time.

Nice place - it is exactly how it displays online. Clean, basic hotel a little away from the centre of town, but still only a 5 minute walk. Plenty of food and shops nearby. Staff went out of their way to help us when we had an issue with one of the local laundries being closed. Recommend.

Breakfast is included (eggs, toast, fruit, juice, coffee)- great to start the day on a full stomach. The area is a little noisy at night (there’s a club on the corner) and the neighborhood cats and dogs make a ruckus. But that seems to be an issue most places in town. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good food, good price… basics are covered!

Shameful business

Avoid at all costs if you can. They are disrespectful frauds. Booked a sea view room with breakfast, which the check-in lady confirmed. At breakfast, they refused saying our booking didn’t include it. Even after showing the email confirmation they still refused, saying we had booked a balcony room no breakfast, then proceeded to refuse us a room with a balcony. Worst of all they were incredibly patronizing, belligerent and disrespectful, calling us names like “clowns” on the hotels.com messaging service. There were many other issues including no hot water, noise all night (they live downstairs and were very loud with music and talking), neon lights outside our window, no ventilation, windows did not open, and filthy streets outside.

Experiencia Inolvidable en el Corazón de Galápagos

Desde el momento en que llegamos al Hostal Tongo Reef, supe que nuestra estadía en San Cristóbal sería excepcional. Viajé con mi hermana y mi sobrina, y todas nos sentimos instantáneamente acogidos por la calidez de los propietarios, que nos trataron más como miembros de su propia familia que como huéspedes. El hostal está ubicado en una posición privilegiada, a pocos pasos de una playa encantadora habitada por leones marinos y sus adorables crías. La cercanía a esta maravilla natural añadió un toque mágico a nuestra estadía. Las habitaciones del Tongo Reef son un verdadero refugio de tranquilidad y limpieza. Cada rincón del lugar refleja el esmero y la dedicación de sus dueños por mantener un ambiente pulcro y acogedor. Además, el wifi funcionó a la perfección durante toda nuestra visita, lo cual fue esencial para compartir nuestras experiencias con amigos y familiares. Pero lo que realmente distingue a este hostal son sus espectaculares desayunos. Cada mañana, nos deleitamos con platos locales exquisitamente preparados, llenos de sabor y amor. Fue una verdadera inmersión en la cultura gastronómica de Galápagos. Además, los propietarios fueron increíblemente serviciales al ofrecernos recomendaciones para explorar San Cristóbal e incluso otras islas en Galápagos. Sus consejos enriquecieron enormemente nuestra aventura en las islas. En resumen, el Hostal Tongo Reef no es solo un lugar para alojarse; es un hogar lejos de casa.

Precio abusivo para lo que ofrece

Esperaba mucho más por el precio que he pagado. El precio es de un 4 estrellas y en España no tendría ni 3. No es una estancia acogedora, ni en la decoración ni en el trato, y tampoco está bien ubicada. Casi todos los servicios en esta isla son claramente abusivos, y los lugareños no tienen la menor piedad con los turistas. Este es un hotel regentado por personas locales, que ya tienen estigmatizado ese proceder en todo lo que ofrecen (comidas, tours, ...). Les queda mucho que aprender, pero sin conciencia, lo tienen difícil.

Room was very clean upon arrival. Breakfast was delicious. Location was great. about a 6min walk to the pier. This is a family owned hostal, not a hostal a hotel. Jhosias was a gem, helped me plan my route around Galapagos, arranged all the Ferries, all my tours at no extra cost. Everybody was extremely friendly at the hotel. Only downpoint would be for slow and sometimes non working wifi in my room. But if you sit in the lobby, wifi was fine. Thanks Hostal Tongo Reef for everything.
