The Happy Rooster is a 1,254sqft super cute cottage, newly remodeled, nestled in the rolling hills of Franklin County, by Smith Mountain Lake. Great wifi! Brand new 7 person hot tub! Enjoy various fruit trees in front yard during season. Spacious porch to enjoy sunrise, sunset and the sounds of nature. Both kids and adults love to enjoy the interaction amongst the vast array of farm animals including chickens, horses and miniature cows. Spend the evening by the firepit or inside playing one of the numerous games available for all. Relish on a mile or two peaceful stroll, surrounded by farms to the end of the cul-de-sac. 10 minutes from Smith Mountain Lake, 15 minutes to Rocky Mount. 10 minutes to Blackwater Junction and the Salt Spa. Within 20 minutes of Copper Cove Golf Course & Waters Edge Golf Course. 18minutes to Harvester Performance Center, 10 minutes to Magnum Point Marina. Also enjoy several spas and wineries in the area.

This property was the perfect place for my lady and I to stay for a fun little weekend getaway- the house is clean, cozy and modern, with great amenities, the hosts are friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had, and the farm setting is beautiful. It was the only time that I have ever had a morning coffee on the front porch with emus right there to keep us company.

Fun Getaway!
My husband and I stayed for a few days between Christmas and New Years. Although the weather was not ideal, we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation! The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, the kitchen was perfectly equipped for cooking the delicious local produce, and the bathroom was luxurious. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and we loved learning about the farm. We would look forward to staying here again or visiting the other BNB location at Smith Mountain. Thanks to the hosts for allowing us to stay with you!!

Camp Bachlorette

Beautiful weekend getaway
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Happy Rooster. The home and property were clean and nicely kept & we enjoyed seeing the chickens in the morning. We were looking forward to seeing the horses and sheep but other then that we loved every part of our visit.

AMAZING Stay with Added Bonuses!
Our family came across the Happy Rooster when looking for a place to stay when booking a last minute trip to come to my hometown. Being from Franklin County, I know the area well and can tell you the Happy Rooster is in a very ideal location to get to Rocky Mount, Smith Mountain Lake, or even Ferrum. Attention to detail sets this place a part, Kathryn & Tommy knew we were getting in late and made sure there were lights on in the house for when we arrived. Additionally, the home is well decorated, very very clean, and provides everything you need for your stay. ALRIGHT, the truth....the Happy Rooster comes with added bonuses!! The animals on the farm! We didn't book the Happy Rooster because of this (it was more about the location) BUT we are SO GLAD we did. Our teenage girls got off their phones and went outside to pet the bunnies, the horses, and speak to the Happy Rooster himself. My only wish is that we could have spent more time on the farm. Thank you Happy Rooster for making this family of 4 very HAPPY indeed!

Amazing experience!
My two friends and I came for a long weekend, and it was perfect. The hosts were so helpful and easy to communicate with and were very thoughtful about our trip.
The house was beautiful with lots of new appliances and so clean. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a get away!
