We were so impressed with Hotel Open Gate! The staff are very welcoming and the rooms are great. We stayed on the second floor and had a magnificent balcony overlooking the water. The location is a perfect spot to day trip to other towns along the Amalfi coast and there is transportation right in front of the hotel. The restaurant has a great terrace on the water as well. Great spot if you are looking to be seaside but also explore.

Me and hubby had a great stay at open gate. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The views are incredible! Pasquale was great. He helped us book a Vespa and let us know of bus routin the area. You won’t be disappointed. Do have dinner at the their restaurant too. Excellent food.

I Love OPEN GATE
Our room and view of the ocean was breathtaking! Our stay was comfortable and safe. It's a beautiful B&B!!!! We enjoyed our breakfast every morning. We loved that we can walk down to the beach and take a water taxi anywhere! Great staff, so hardworking!

Amazing time in Open Gate hotel
Really enjoyed the stay. The location is great, the place has a private parking, walking distance to the beach and small area shops. The room very clean and in excellent condition, the view is amazing, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and we also had a really tasty dinner in the hotel restaurant. Will definitely recommend the place to our friends.

The hotel is family owned and they are so helpful and accommodating and are there all the time as they live upstairs. The hotel is in a quiet area, away from the craziness of Positano. The hotel sits right on the main road, so you do have road noise since all the cars, buses and vespas travel this one road. Our room had a huge balcony with an amazing view of the water and coast. You must walk a little way (5-7 min) in either direction to a bus stop to take the bus to other towns, like Positano or Amalfi. Or you can call for a taxi. They have a restaurant on-site with a full menu and gelato too!!! Breakfast was extensive with lots of options. You can sit on the outside, covered patio or there is a nice patio across the street on the water side you can enjoy as well. There is air conditioning -- thank goodness. We stayed in October and still needed it a bit but also opened the doors to our balcony for fresh air. There are no elevators so we had to walk two flights to our room. This is very common in this area. The location is convenient if you plan on going to the other coast towns during your visit. We did Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. You must also make sure to visit the marina area called Praia not far from the hotel and takes you down by the water via staircase. You will find a whole world down there of restaurants in the rocks, like La Pirata, that we highly recommend. You cannot miss doing this! I highly recommend Open Gate. And the price is very fair as well. Ciao!

The location is great, just a 15 minutes bus ride to Positano and a walk to the beach. We enjoyed the balcony facing the ocean, great views! The hotel staff is super friendly and attentive. The included breakfasts were very good and dinners as well.

Staff are warm and friendly! There is a restaurant and the bus stop is directly in front of the hotel to get into Positano. Convenient and wonderful service!

Wonderful simple little hotel in great location
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in July and loved it. The location is perfect: you can easily use the shuttle bus to spend the day in Positano or Amalfi, then retire for a quiet dinner in the little town of Praiano. Our room was lovely, with a magnificent view of the Mediterranean, especially from the balcony. The restaurant serves excellent cuisine in a calm and romantic setting overlooking the see. We ended up eating there 4 out of the 5 nights of our stay. The grilled calamari were the best I have ever had anywhere. The owners are wonderful, friendly and helpful. They speak English and French.

Amalfi Coast's best kept secret!
We spent a fabulous 4 nights in this family run hotel and enjoyed every second! The family go out of their way to assist and support you and were enormously kind and friendly towards my 3 year old daughter. We will definitely come back one day.

Amazing hotel with gorgeous views!
I was very pleasantly surprised with Open Gate Hotel. First of all, the location is stunning. Our room had a large balcony facing the sea with the most incredible view that you could see right from the bed through the glass double doors. The service was excellent, the food was excellent, and the rates are very reasonable. I was very pleased with this hotel and highly recommend it for anyone visiting the Amalfi coast

Along with the beauty of the Amalfi Coast the Open Gate Hotel was a refreshing surprise. My wife and I have stayed in numerous small hotels in the past but have never had such a personal stay with the family run home. All the hotel service had a personal touch. Beginning from the hotel manager (Pasquale) and the rest of the family were simply beautiful people and made us feel like part of the family. With the Italian background I have my wife and I found the food simply wonderful. We will be making plans to revisit next year .

A HOTEL WITH FANTASTIC VIEW AND BESIDE THE ROAD !!
the hotel is in the best location bang on the side of the road. rooms has balcony and facing the fantastic view of the sea.its in a quite location and it has its own restaurant very convenient for hotel customers. staff are friendly and helpful and provide information about travel and schedule of buses and help you reserve your place if you want a boat tour to the island of capri and surrounding. Priano is a good starting point for boat trip because its not crowded unlike if you book your boat trip at positano its crowded and much more in mid summer. i certainly recommend this hotel for its location just on the side of the road, has a restaurant and the beautiful view looking out the sea specially if you're on the 3rd floor. travelling by bus you might be able to tell the driver to stop right at the front of the hotel. the hotel is between bus stop 9 and 10. bus stop 7 is too far to walk to the hotel but if they are not busy the hotel staff might be able to pick you up at the bus stop just like they did to us. the bus fare is so cheap 1.50euro minimum one way around the area example from priano to amalfi coast. taxi is very expensive.for relaxing and quite hotel go for this hotel if you want excitement amalfi coast is only a short distance away but the last bus is 9pm. i have a wonderful experience at this hotel. am glad i pick this hotel among the 3 hotels i book. fantastic view, right beside the road and has its own restaurant.

The Open Gate Hotel was great. The views form our balcony we're beautiful.The hospitality from the staff was very nice. The food they cooked us was delicious from their restaurant even though they were closed for the season.Parking along the Amalfi Coast looked very difficult at most places however The Open Gate had a small parking lot for us to use which was very handy.We would go back again for sure!

Family-run hotel with great food
Located in Praiano, this is a quiet stop between Positano and Amalfi, closer to Positano. The food is fantastic and beaches close by. We were here in high season - August - so getting around was not easy. The buses were always full. And if you're prone to motion sickness, get your meds ready before traveling to Amalfi on the Sita bus. The views are stunning from the windy roads but not the most pleasant if you have a sensitive stomach. The hotel is basic, no fridges and you have to carry your own luggage to the second floor - but that's reflective of the affordability. The staff is extremely helpful and as mentioned, the food served at the restaurant fantastic.

Hidden Gem on the Amalfi Coast
Open Gate is a lovely hotel just outside Priano, about half way along the Amalfi Coast. It's spartan but still quite appealing, with an excellent outdoor patio and an even better restaurant. Breakfast is included and it's excellent, with lots of different options and delicious pastries. Dinner is amazing, from the wood-fired pizza to the seafood platter, it was by far the best meal we had in Italy. The owners are charming, very nice to talk to and get tips from. The beach is a short distance away, a nice downhill walk. Our room had a lovely patio, with lots of shade and a nice breeze. A great place to stay - quiet and peaceful, with wonderful views.

A very friendly family run hotel in a beautiful location on the outskirts of the town. It was therefore a 15 minute walk to the town centre. We were made to feel very comfortable and the only criticism is that the bed was very firm. Food was good and there were a good selection of reasonable local wines. All rooms seem to have a balcony. We were on the second (top) floor and had stunning views out to sea and of the local coastline. The location is good for the Amailfi coast. We had a hire car and Sorrento (for Capri) and Amalfi itself are within easy striking distance. If you are looking for a very lively nightlife then it's not the location for you. Not a 5* hotel, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to explore the area.

Very easy to find. Off street parking most welcome. Bus outside the door going to all villages along the coast. Not easy to get to the beach, which actually is more of a fishing village but truly worth the walk down to experience it. We stayed at the end of the peak season and the hotel lacked some atmosphere. Despite great terrace eating area there were no other guests dining. Service was friendly from the staff but the owner seamed a bit grumpy when the staff were showing some interest in us. The room was adequate, but the food could benefit from a little more quality. Breakfast was a little on the just okay side; cereal and one croissant, no meats or cheeses. Overall, it was just achieving its star rating.

A wonderful and romantic place
My boyfriend and I stayed there for two nights and had a wonderful time. The staff was so friendly and really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and provided everything we needed for a nice romantic weekend. The rooms are airy and they all have large balconies that look out over the sea. Our first night we had dinner at the restaurant on the terrace overlooking the ocean. It was a delicious meal with lots of fresh seafood dishes. We looked around town but found this restaurant to be the most affordable and it was right downstairs! The breakfast consisted of croissants, bread and jam, cereal and fruit, with your choice of coffee beverage. It was not too fancy, but filling and a good start to the day. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk outside of the main town, but it is such a beautiful place and very relaxing. There is not much to do in Praiano besides eat, but there is a quick bus that goes straight to Positano. I would highly recommend going there, it is so beautiful. It felt like walking through a postcard. The only one complaint I had was that the beds and pillows were very very hard. But other than that our stay was absolutely wonderful. I cannot say enough about how kind and generous the hotel staff was.
