Everything we needed to relax!
I highly recommend this property! My family (5 adults and 4 kids (0 to 15 years old) and 2 dogs) stayed 4 nights and everyone had a blast! We had everything we needed to enjoy the time together - there was even a crockpot, which we used for birthday-kid-requested chicken chili! There is little or no cell signal in the house, so that was the only challenge (of course, no phone service helps with really getting away!). Check-in and check-out were easy, with clear instructions. I appreciated Tammy's recommendations for activities and resources during check-in. There was also a whole library of catalogs, brochures, and info sheets with all the information we could need about the area.

This is the second time we rented this very clean, well equipped cottage for a long weekend to attend a family reunion in the area. We especially like the large outdoor covered patio for entertaining. The only down side is that the beds are not the most comfortable. Tammy is a pleasure to work with and can be easily reached if need be.

Girls Weekend
We have a girls weekend from two families that have known each other for 58 years. We enjoyed the place because it was able to accommodate 6 adults. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was on a quiet lake. We were able to relax and enjoy the time together. We will tell others about the place.

Excellence as always.
This was our third time staying here and there’ll be a fourth. The house is perfect, the lake is perfect, the area is perfect if you want peace and quiet on the lake. Check in and out was stress free, the house was clean and beautiful as it always is. If you’re on the fence about this house, don’t be. You’ll not regret staying here.

Hemlock Lakehouse Memories
Our stay at the Hemlock Lakehouse on Sunken Lake was great. We enjoyed walking into a clean and welcoming home with a lot of space for us to enjoy spending time together as a family. The outside patio was refreshing and added space to our large group. Everyone enjoyed the outdoor ammenities (fishing, kayaking, peddle boating, cornhole, etc.) The only drawback was the comfort of the beds, they seem to be on the harder side. Overall a very lovely home that we would recommend to others.

Family Bonding Weekend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sunken Lake Cottage this past weekend. This place definitely exceeded our expectations, and was exactly what our family needed to connect while enjoying the beautiful setting. Our host was very accommodating and warmly greeted us when we arrived. The kitchen was well equipped to cook a big breakfast every morning. The beds were very comfortable and it was really quiet so we were able to get a lot of rest. We especially enjoyed the outdoor patio overlooking the lake at sunset, then relaxed at the firepit for the rest of the evening. We would definitely stay at this location again, and would recommend this place to others.

We enjoyed our stay even though it was a quick weekend trip. We spent Saturday ice fishing on long lake which was only a short drive from the home! The home is beautiful! Would love to rent again and enjoy the lake at the house!

This is our second year renting the Sunken Lake cottage for our week long hunting camp! The amenities, furnished kitchen, and comfort of this place is a nice respite for a long day in the woods! We will be back for 2023!

Quiet, peaceful, and beautiful!! I took my 102 mother with me I was so pleased with the barrier free house with bathrooms convenient located for her special needs. A big plus for our situation. Wonderful location with beaches nearby. The house was very clean and well stocked with a welcoming presence. The added bonus was the kayaks which we enjoyed by just putting in the water! A Great in was had by all and we would go back in a minute!!

Paradise on the water
This is my family’s second time staying at this beautiful house on Sunken lake and there will be a third. The house is extremely clean and has everything you need. The only thing I can warn someone on is that Google is wrong with the directions. That is no fault of the property nor the property manager. Once you’re at the house, you won’t want to leave. The view is second to none and so is the fishing. My shoulder is killing me from all the smallmouth I caught. It is a no wake lake, so you don’t have to worry about boats zipping past you ruining your time on the water. The view from the kitchen is breathtaking and it continues to the covered patio. I absolutely love this house and I will continue to book my vacations here.

Family Reunion
We feel so blessed in finding this property. Trying to find a place to accommodate a party of ten ages 2 to 64, was quite challenging. Renting this property went above and beyond our expectations. The house was so comfortable and offered everything we needed. We all enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boat and canoe. What we loved best was that we all disconnected from the electronic grid. The gkids never once asked to watch TV and the nightly fires in the fire pit offered much conversation amongst family members. It will be a vacation our family will long remember. Thank you for hosting our Florida family.

Wonderful Quiet and Clean Lakeside Cabin
The property was very clean! All tile floors were excellent for being lakeside. Best part was morning coffee on the patio watching wildlife! The patio was also great for evening dining ... we were pleasantly surprised by the lack of mosquitos. We were met at property and given a short run through. Excellent host! Easy day trips to Lake Huron beaches, Rogers City, Alpena and Rockport.

A quiet getaway

The cottage was very well maintained and clean. We had everything we needed for cooking and spending time on the water. Tammy provided information about all of the things to do in the area as well. 4th of July fireworks over the lake were a pleasant surprise for the kids on our first night there. Our family had a wonderful time!

Great stay!
This was our second time coming to this cottage, and we always have a wonderful time. The home has plenty of indoor and outdoor space, and it’s so nice to have a fully equipped kitchen to cook in. The only thing we missed was not having internet, but we did without for a few days.

The view is breath taking. Had a wonderful time kayaking. Be careful if you go hiking on local trails it is tick season. The Amish bakery is fabulous! The beds are firm but everything else is exceptional. The hostess was amazing and very informative about local things to do. Definitely would recommend.

The cottage has been BEAUTIFULLY renovated inside and out, and is extremely well-equipped. It had absolutely everything we needed, and we felt relaxed and at home right away. I especially liked the outdoor living area, and watching the beavers, ducks and loons swimming in the lake. The owners are really nice, and very accessible. HIGHLY recommended - we will absolutely stay there again if we're in the area!

Great vacation home!
The home exceeded our expectations. We ended up renting this house after our previous vacation plans fell through, and we could not have been happier with how things turned out. The house was perfect for our family of 5 (myself, my husband and kids- ages 7, 4 and 2). There was plenty of space. The house had everything we needed for the weekend and was very clean and well maintained. The covered patio was amazing for morning coffee and evening drinks. The kids loved the lake and paddle boat. It was quiet and relaxing- exactly what we needed. The fact that we could also bring our dog was fantastic, as she is very much a part of our family. The booking, check-in and check-out process was quick and easy. Tammy was great for the welcoming and gave us a lot of suggestions on things we could see or do in the area. I only wish we had more time there. We will definitely be returning for more adventures.

It was nice and clean. The kayaks and paddle boat was great! Loved the full kitchen for cooking. The mattresses were too hard for us and the grill was really rusty and dirty. We had to scrub it fir awhile before we could use it. There’s also a camper trailer on the property with people staying really close to the house which was a little odd.

Michigan Retreat
We traveled all the way from Grand Junction,CO by car to get some Northern Michigan solitude. We had a great time. The cottage is very comfortable and the setting on the lake is very beautiful. Tammy, the host was very responsive and helpful. However, there are a few issues with the property that should have been better communicated by the Owner. First of all, this is NOT a swimming or boating lake. If you bring your own boat, you will be dissappointed by the lack of a usable dock. Secondly, there is no swimming area at all - just muck and weeds. It's also important to know that you should not drink the tap water or cook with it. We were not infomed of this until the host delivered a large jug of drinking water on Day 2. There are no signs in the cottage that warn you of this issue. I am still suffering from the "Traveler's Diarrhea" that I developed on the trip. Lastly, as is mentioned in many previous reviews, the beds are uncomfortable. The mattresses have a plastic covering that does not allow your sweat to evaporate. We found that placing a thin foam pad under your fitted sheet makes it much more comfortable. I hope this helps future renters of this very nice cottage.

This house was very clean and a great layout. It was updated and furnished with everything you would need. We really enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks, we do wish we would of known that the Lake is not a swimming lake. For most of our stay we couldn’t even stand on the dock to fish because it was under water. We loved the patio to relax and look out to the lake and having dinners out there. We also enjoyed having fires and s’mores at night. If you love sleeping on firm mattress then you will sleep well. Over all we enjoyed our stay here.

Get away from it all…
Perfect place to get away from it all. Close enough to the larger towns, but also far enough away from the larger towns. Hiked the local Karst ‘s, our dog enjoyed taking walks and evenings by the fire. The covered patio is great, especially in the morning with coffee. BBQ’d most nights and just enjoyed being away from work (no internet is a plus). Watched a couple of dvd’s. Never did catch the big fish that would jump off the end of the dock, but there is always next time. Kitchen was well equipped for our needs. As with anywhere, it took a night or two to get used to the beds and we did not find this to be a negative. Nothing ever matches your own bed. Check in with Tammy was appreciated and helpful. Hope to visit again someday.
