The Space: Important Note About the Flooring The property has a wooden floor structure, which is naturally flexible. Therefore, in some areas, you may feel a slight movement when walking, as if the floor is "giving way." This is a construction feature of the building, not a defect. The flooring is safe and is regularly checked by the maintenance team. Enter through ruby doors to patterned floors and a lounge that flows toward a turquoise-tiled kitchen, fully stocked plus dishwasher and washer. Upstairs, a queen room and two twin rooms with pull-out trundles nestle beneath exposed beams in warm maple panelling. Two hotel-style bathrooms sparkle in hexagon blues, while a handy extra WC waits downstairs. Slide open glass doors to dine alfresco as boats glide past the rooftops. Guest Access: All house space and amenities are included in this booking. Feel completely at home. The Neighborhood: Set on Rua Agostinho Albano in Afurada, the house is surrounded by fishermen’s shouts, grill-smoke sardine stalls and façades of every colour. Stroll five minutes to the river promenade, hop the ferry to Porto’s Ribeira, or cycle along flat paths to Atlantic beaches. For a month, I attempted to get a response from the host (a third party called Hist Wise). On the day of my stay, I did not receive check-in instructions. I had to contact VRBO customer service to request a refund. Despite not staying there, the day before I would have checked out, I received check out instructions. ##### Chris L. The neighborhood is quaint and deeply inbedded with fishing. All the local restaurants serve generally only fish. If you like that, like we did, it's a great location and very nice apartment. ##### Steve K. Séjour de 3 nuits en décembre 2024 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### John B., New London, PA 21 oct. 2024 #### Great location - difficult rental The townhome is beautifully situated on the Douro River with views from the balcony – a great place for an aperitif. There are MANY good restaurants in the area. Most of the seafood ones are big enough to share. It is easy to get to some of the best Quinta tasting rooms, and the “funicular” to the upper reaches of Porto is convenient. Do not expect to cook in unit – it has only 2 burners, no oven, and no cutting board. The master bedroom is quite comfortable. the second floor bedrooms have an odd arrangement – one twin with a trundle bed in each room. If opened up, the beds fill the entire room. It is quite noisy between floors because of the open stairway construction and there is no sound insulation between floors. There are no handrails on any of the stairs, so bringing bags down from the third floor can be awkward. One thing that should be addressed immediately is the mold around the second floor bathroom. If there is still a leak, it should be repaired. In any event, the mold-blackened wood flooring in the hallway is more than disconcerting. Finally, communication between VRBO, the unit manager, and Hostwise was EXTREMELY confusing. Each exchange I had was duplicated (sometimes more). There were at least four Hostwise responders plus the manager. This could easily be simplified; get rid of Hostwise. I have been renting through VRBO for many years, sometimes up to 8 units at a time. I have never had such a confusing experience. ##### John B.
