Historical, unique and full of character. You have to experience it to appreciate it. Centrally located. No on site dining option but external options abound nearby.
Word of warning: no elevator and A/C. If these are must for you, try somewhere else.
An unforgettable experience. Many, many stairs to our 3rd floor loft. The Hotel felt welcoming and the staff was great! A walkable city with so many things to do, places to eat and nice people! I will stay here again.

Beautiful old building! The rooms are really nicely decorated for the time period- nice community sitting rooms too. The employees are kind and professional. The sound carries through the walls. You can almost hear word for word conversations. Nobody was up super late but it lasts until 10:30 pm or so. There was a box fan in the room which we used as white noise and fixed the problem. The hotel is close to everything so super convenient. Our room was over the pizza place so our room smelled like pizza but there was a weird old smell in the room too, esp the bathroom- a slight musty cabbage smell. Luckily it was nice weather and opening the windows helped al lot.

Hello Jodi: Many thanks for your valuable feedback. We are an historic hotel (1899) and we are aware that sound can travel through some of our guestrooms. We have a "Quiet Hours Policy". Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. During these hours, guests must limit noise both in common areas and rooms to a level that does not disturb other guests in the hotel. We are very sorry that the noise was noticeable and that you had to turn on a box fan to provide "white noise". Please don't hesitate to inform us at the front desk if you have any issues; our team responds immediately to any concerns you may have. Our apologies for any restaurant odors that you detected. Hillbottom Pie is a wonderful restaurant (wood-fire pizza, soups, salads and pie) located in the Tibbals building where the Palace Hotel resides. We are in the process of placing new odor-removing fans in the guestrooms adjacent the restaurant; however, the "musty cabbage smell" is another issue. We will dispatch our head housekeeper to investigate and resolve that issue. Thank you very much for drawing these problems to our attention. We hope that given your concerns, you were able to enjoy your visit to the Palace Hotel and Port Townsend. All the best, Ruthie.
Hi there Steve: Many thanks for submitting a perfect score! We are thrilled with the enthusiastic reply. Hurry on back to Port Townsend, and if you do return, drop by the hotel and say hello or better still, come and stay with us! All the best, Ruthie.

Great location on the main street of Port Townsend. Each room is uniquely decorated. Free parking in back of hotel, with plenty of overnight street parking if it fills up (street parking is 2 hour max only during the day. Had fun exploring the beautiful historic building. Opted for a loft room on top floor, stairs were not an issue (no elevator).

This is not a “cookie cutter” hotel. Every room is unique, filled with interesting antiques, and yet it has all the amenities of modern hotels. It’s right in the center of town but, is always quiet. The staff (and every other guest I’ve met) are kind and and so interesting to talk to. This place is just fun!

Hi Anna: Thank you for your review. We value all of our guest reviews and certainly strive to improve our guest experience. As you have been a frequent guest at the hotel over the past few years, you were quite right to assume that the hotel was dog friendly. We changed our dog policy as of January 1st, 2024. We no longer accommodate dogs; this is written in our guest reservation confirmation emails and it is posted on our website. When guests book through Expedia, they will see that the Palace Hotel is dog friendly due to Expedia's requirement to accommodate Service dogs. As of today (2/8 /24) Expedia confirmation emails will also contain the fact that we are no longer accommodating dogs. We are very sorry that you felt uncomfortable staying at the hotel. Our very best wishes, Anna. Hoping you will come and see us again. Cheers, Ruthie.
