Hello Jodi: Many thanks for your valuable feedback. We are an historic hotel (1899) and we are aware that sound can travel through some of our guestrooms. We have a "Quiet Hours Policy". Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. During these hours, guests must limit noise both in common areas and rooms to a level that does not disturb other guests in the hotel. We are very sorry that the noise was noticeable and that you had to turn on a box fan to provide "white noise". Please don't hesitate to inform us at the front desk if you have any issues; our team responds immediately to any concerns you may have. Our apologies for any restaurant odors that you detected. Hillbottom Pie is a wonderful restaurant (wood-fire pizza, soups, salads and pie) located in the Tibbals building where the Palace Hotel resides. We are in the process of placing new odor-removing fans in the guestrooms adjacent the restaurant; however, the "musty cabbage smell" is another issue. We will dispatch our head housekeeper to investigate and resolve that issue. Thank you very much for drawing these problems to our attention. Many of our guests tell us how convenient the central downtown location is, and that it allows them to leave their car in our parking lot for the duration of their stay. There are oodles of interesting shops, high-quality restaurants and hip coffee shops within walking distance. Our location makes for a relaxed visit. All 26 of our guestrooms are different, as are the common rooms. We have two historic building that are attached (1889) each with a different ambiance. The Tibbals Building has 19 Victorian-era rooms while the Pioneer Building houses 7 Soho-loft-style rooms. Check our our site for photos of all of the rooms and reserve one that appeals. We have 26 rooms and all are different; 19 rooms are are Victorian in their ambiance and these are located in the Tibbals Building, while the 7 rooms in the Pioneer Building are in the flavor of Soh-loft studios. As you have been a frequent guest at the hotel over the past few years, you were quite right to assume that the hotel was dog friendly. We changed our dog policy as of January 1st, 2024. We no longer accommodate dogs; this is written in our guest reservation confirmation emails and it is posted on our website. When guests book through Expedia, they will see that the Palace Hotel is dog friendly due to Expedia's requirement to accommodate Service dogs. As of today (2/8 /24) Expedia confirmation emails will also contain the fact that we are no longer accommodating dogs. We are very sorry that you felt uncomfortable staying at the hotel.
