"The owner was very friendly and accommodating. I had a great time staying at the guest house, it is absolutely breathtaking. I would definitely stay longer if I could. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the shared door with the other guest room - it is locked shut but you can hear the voices through it. Otherwise can only recommend!"

"Staff was fantastic. Breakfast could not have been better; eggs and bacon to order, fresh coffe, local cheeses, fresh bakery, juice, preserves, toast, everything I could want. "Great location right on the coast.Maud and Maxime were excellent hosts. We exchanged multiple messages prior to our arrival in which they answered questions and provided helpful information. Although they speak only French – and our French doesn’t go much past Bonjour – we easily used Google Translate to communicate.The cottage is very nice and well-appointed, true to the photographs. Looking out onto the water with a sea breeze in your face is wonderful. Note: At 69 and a few weeks shy of 72, we had no problem with the spiral stairs. But these could be an issue for a person with limited mobility.Grandcamp-Maisy is a nice town. Bakery for your morning croissants a short walk. We had excellent meals at La Marine, Restaurant de la Marée, and L’Aristide. The Le déBARcadére bistro next door draws a quiet crowd and closes at 9pm. Never an issue with noise. Fun place to walk around the harbor and visit the shops. No problem parking our rental car in some spaces on the quay about 50 meters from the front door.Also a good, central location to explore the D-Day sights, Bayeux, and other areas of Normandy. Don’t miss Maisy Battery on the edge of town where you can actually walk through the German trenches / blockhouses and a couple of 155mm howitzers are still mounted on their emplacements.We would definitely stay here again."

"We found the property itself to be pretty, well equipped and furnished with comfortable beds but we had some issues. Communication wasn't great, not all messages were responded to.The lane leading to the property is very, very narrow and is not a through road. We couldn't actually get out of the car until we were alongside the gate to the property, it's that narrow but would be OK if you had a small car and were confident reversing back out onto the adjoining road. We found that the public parking was always available close to the property.Our biggest issues was that we received a message 2 days before arrival to say proper linen was an additional 50 euro, cash only on arrival; only disposable linen was supplied which we considered unusable. We took a walk the first evening only to discover that high tide brings a terrible stench to parts of the town making it very, very unpleasant to walk through, though it didn't seem to effect the marina side of down as badly. We would not consider returning."

"Wonderful Stay Near D-Day Sites!We had a fantastic stay at this charming gîte! The location is ideal—peaceful and scenic, yet conveniently close to many of the D-Day memorials, museums, and beaches. It was the perfect home base for exploring the history and beauty of the region.The gîte itself was spotless and well-equipped, with everything we needed for cooking and dining comfortably. We especially appreciated the ample supply of dishes and kitchenware.Our hosts were incredibly welcoming and kind, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.We would absolutely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area—families, couples, or solo travelers alike. A truly memorable and enjoyable experience!"
