Here you’ll find plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors for walking, cycling, paddle boarding and more as well as time for some rest and relaxation. The barn is an ideal space for individual, family, team or group getaways. Please message us with any questions. Lopwell Barn offers hostel type accommodation consisting of 2 comfortable bedrooms with bunk beds that sleep up to 14 people. The Space: The perfect place to book for a team, family or group getaway! Perfectly situated on the Lopwell Dam, by the banks of the beautiful River Tavy & the edge of Dartmoor. Well equipped Kitchen which includes range cooker, microwave, fridge freezer & toaster Dining area with large table Bedroom 1 with 2 bunks and 2 single beds ( can be connected to form a king ) Bedroom 2 with 3 bunks and 2 single beds ( can be connected to form a king ) NO BEDDING OR PILLOWS ARE PROVIDED - JUST A BOTTOM SHEET ON A MATTRESS. Lounge area with wood burner & comfy seating Washroom with 3 individual showers and toilets Complimentary Wifi Please be aware that the barn has no TV or licence. If you are streaming to a device you must ensure that you hold a current licence. The barn has plenty of outside space for you to enjoy. Back & front garden areas with seating Firepit / outside BBQ Pizza oven Plenty of parking Fishing is allowed below the dam with no licence as it is tidal. Guest Access: Guest have the whole barn to themselves The Neighborhood: Lopwell Dam is a beautiful spot at any time of the year; the colours and views on display are simply breathtaking. Near Plymouth, the Local Nature Reserve is home to a varied range of wildlife, both in and out of the water. There are lots of things to do with the family: have a go at pond-dipping, go on a mini-beast hunt, try a spot of bird watching, follow the beautiful woodland trails, or even cycle the Tamar Discovery Trail! At low tide you can walk across the Tidal Ford and encounter nature face to face by following the beautiful woodland trails in the Local Nature Reserve. Lopwell also lies on the route of the Tamar Valley Discovery Trail between Plymouth and Launceston, and the Lopwell Dam cycle link from the Plym Valley/National Cycle Route 27. Explore Lopwell’s nature trail and discover Wheal Maristow, an impressive mineshaft, dating back to the 13th Century. Before the dam was built, a ferry used to run from one side of the estuary to the other. If you walk around the nature reserve you will come across the ruins of the old ferryman’s cottage which used to house the Vivian brothers who ran the ferry in around 1918 (a wooden rowing boat!) Other Things to Note: You will need to bring your own bedding, pillows and towels ( just a bottom sheet is provided ) Sleeping bags are a great option. The River Tavy is just a few meters from the front door with no fences in between so children must be supervised. The river is tidal below the dam so no fishing licence is needed.
