"Staff was very polite and nice. Linens were clean and neat. Room had a very musty smell and I woke up with a headache making me concerned about mildew or mold. Music was played loudly in the hallway for at least an hour after midnight with no response from staff despite the hallway being open to reception area where it would have been heard clearly. Hotel appears to have surface level updates but needs attention to details to make a comfortable environment to stay."

"Desk clerk was very friendly and easy to talk with. She checked in with me on 2nd day of stay to make sure everything was okay and also asked if I needed anything, and if I did just ask."

The kitchen had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and communication from the host was superb throughout.What makes this property truly special is the history. The hosts have clearly taken great care to create a meaningful experience for guests, decorating and furnishing the home with items connected to the Smith and the Carter families. We especially appreciated the information they provided about each room, including whose room it was, details about the furnishings, and fun facts like the BB in the wall in the front bedroom.One of the coolest moments was looking at a photo of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in the very room where we were standing. We also loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch. It rained while we were in town, but it was so peaceful to sit on the porch and listen to the rain.The owners have created a truly unique experience, especially for anyone visiting Plains to learn more about the Carters and their family. Highly recommend."
