"Room had a good size, but was quite dusty overall. On the last day we found a massive blood stain under the mattress cover which is definitely one star down! Bathroom was clean though, just a little bit of a sewer smell when we arrived but it soon vanished. Another star is down for room temperature. Upon arrival there was 26!! degrees in the room. I immediately changed the A/C to 20, which also happened to be minimum temperature setpoint. In two days and two nights the unit was unable to bring it down lower than 24. Radiators kept heating on a full whack and it was balmy 17 degrees outside. Other than these two downsides, hotel is sleek, modern and with good amenities like community kitchen, lounge areas, laundry/ironing room or luggage storage."

"The hotel was adequate for a short break. Everything functioned. I noticed that the heating was very effective although it probably wasn't necessary in May. On the negative side the wall between bedrooms were not acoustically insulated and I could hear every word from the people next door. Also the breakfast was poor. It seemed to be made from the cheapest ingredients. Another positive was the great location in the old town with some good restaurants close by and easy walking to the towns feature locations. Also less than 10 minutes walk from the bus stop which serves the airport. The bus cost €2 and was easy to use getting off at the Estonia street stop for the hotel."

"Merchant's House is in a wonderful historic area. We enjoyed our stay, especially the large sauna area. What a great amenity. The location was convenient for exploring the old town. The condition of a few areas need improvement though. The patio was crumbling and in disarray and the exterior staircase is in need of repair or replacement. Our bathroom looked like it had been recently updated and our room was comfortable. Overall a very nice option in Tallinn."
