"Good central clean hotel with parking"

"Fantastic location in a beautiful setting. We went for a weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Service wasn’t the best, I had to go find someone to serve us at the bar when we wanted to have a drink before our evening meal. There was a door bell to ring to request service at the bar but after ringing it several times, and waiting for a long time I had to eventually go to the main reception desk to request some service. A member of staff then eventually came to serve us. This member of staff told me they didn’t have what I could clearly see behind the bar, then changed her mind and said they did have it, which we thought was a bit odd. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was absolutely excellent. The waitress that served the food was very good, it was a lovely warm sunny evening so we asked the same waitress after we’d finished eating if it was ok for to finish our drinks outside on the terrace, she said that was absolutely fine. However, the same member of staff that had served us at the bar earlier, then ran after us and shouted that we’d forgotten to pay our bill. This was very embarrassing in front of other guests and clearly not the case as we were staying guests at the hotel and had asked the restaurant waitress beforehand. I’m not sure we’d go back again after this, which is a bit of a shame as it was a beautiful setting and great location. "

"The hotel staff were lovely but the room smelt really over sprayed and set off my allergies terribly. The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable but the bed was lovely ."

"Very comfortable hotel. Lovely location 5 min walk to cathedral. Room was a bit warm for our liking, as it was a top floor room and we had sunny weather. Dinner was excellent, breakfast was okay."

"I have stayed at this hotel a few times. The rooms are spacious and always very clean. I find the beds are very comfy. Always have a good night's sleep. Each time I have stayed here it has been very quiet at night, no noise from other residents which is nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good facilities to use. Nice restaurant and good food. I would highly recommend this hotel."

"Location of the hotel was perfect. Everything was a short walk to the cathedral, shopping, market place and Elizabeth gardens. We parked in the short term car park on Brown street and the hotel provided a parking card for £6 a night which is reasonable. The also provided a fan as it was hot. Missing is a mini fridge. That would have been nice to keep our drinks cold."

"We enjoyed our one night stay however feel there are improvements that would enhance the experience. Breakfast was nice with a good selection and welcoming staff. The welcome wine was a generous touch at check in. The outdoor pool is great however would be improved with keeping the area tidy and organised when guests have left their towels and drinking glasses behind. I found it really unpleasant using the steam room when I noticed a plaster on the floor amongst many hairs, the next day the plaster was still on the floor and proved the steam room had not been cleaned, the sauna was also covered in hairs on the floor. Shame as the facilities were lovely but needed cleaning. I was surprised no slippers were available in the rooms with the robes. Also the water dispenser had not been replenished so on exiting the sauna there was no water available. It felt very low standards that the basics had not been seen to. Check in at 4pm also seems quite late. The room was nice enough for what we needed for a night however if staying longer there’s no wardrobe to unpack, just some coat hooks on the wall. The hotel is great for a night and if you’re lucky with good weather to enjoy the outdoor pool. Although we felt some areas needed improvement we did have a really good time and thought the young staff were very friendly and helpful. "

"There was no lift and although staff helped me with my case,I still had to climb up and down to the 2nd floor. I had asked for a lower room because I have severe heart failure, despite having booked in January, there were many people, far fitter than me on the 1st floor. My room was clean but the curtain was not hanging properly. Many of the carpets need a clean, so did the big window on the stairs which was filthy with cobwebs, The garden needed tidying up, there were cigarette butts everywhere. The parking was perfect. Most of the staff were very helpful."
