After about 15 years of annual stays at the Bay View Inn, we had a 21-year hiatus so we can looked forward to our stay. It was lovely with same charm we remembered—enough antiques to give it character and enough updated amenities to give it comfort.
The staff treated you like you were welcomed home each time you came in. Great help yourself service to water, hot chocolate and coffee. Soda and lemonade were also offered.

Home away from home
It was very homey and quaint. We were disappointed we were not able to stay another evening as they were closing the next day.
While its a very old hotel, its an exceptional stay. The Host when we arrived was by far the best welcoming I've ever had in many years of travel. The rooms are dated but very well kept. Each room is decorated differently. The food was amazing and the amenities are plenty. Our room didn't have TV but the room called the Library down the hall was very cool with many games and a big screen tv there, it was great. We took our drinks and played cards down there both nights we stayed. I sure hope the new owners don't change that. We will definitely return.
This hotel is beautiful! It was a great place to stay, exceptionally clean, well located, and a lovely old building. Bear in mind, it is an old building, with uneven floors and limited elevator access (it's very small) so folks with limited mobility could have some trouble, but otherwise it was amazing, and highly recommended!
Unbelievably attentive service in this historic inn... the building is well appointed and comfortable, situated at water's edge with outstanding views... the inn is well over one hundred years old so don't expect a resort with all of the latest 21st century modern rooms and furnishings-- accept this character as part of the magic of your stay.
This is a hotel from another era and its kept irs charm and grace. The breakfast is wonderful. The room we had had a view of the bay. It's a vintage building so creaking, slanting floors abound. Altogether a great place for a few days in little traverse bay country.
Beautiful historic property overlooking the bay. A special weekend for us and the manager made it even more special by upgrading our room at no extra cost.
Every facet of the property is meticulously maintained.
We are very pleased
Have stayed in Petoskey several times and always rode bikes past the Stafford and was curious. Finally made a reservation for 3 nights. We had a room on the US31 side of the Inn so we had some traffic noise but we both sleep well and would not consider it a big distraction. US31 is the main and very busy road through Petoskey, however when sitting on the back/side deck at the Stafford with the beautiful view of the lake you don't notice the road noise as much. The breakfast was excellent and presentation was perfect. All employees were very courtious and helpful. Location is excellent if your riding bikes on the trail that goes right behind the Inn. Would stay again

Thank you for your kind words about our staff and the service is wonderful. Take care and happy travels.
Everything was awesome! Felt like stepping back in time. Inn and surrounding grounds were well appointed and welll taken care of and maintained! We are looking forward to coming back!
wonderful location in a beautiful old dame of a building. outside landscaping and setting is picture-perfect. Inside, the rooms are clean and suffice, but outdated and showing their age. Also, the K sized bed had a HUGE gap between where your head rests and the headboard, which we could not make comfortable despite stuffing with pillows. We opted to sleep at the foot of the bed instead.
