Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Oseja De Sajambre?
The best area to stay in Oseja De Sajambre is within the village itself, or in one of the smaller, quieter hamlets nearby such as Soto de Sajambre or Pío de Sajambre.

Staying directly in Oseja de Sajambre provides the most convenience. It's the largest village in the valley and serves as the main hub, offering a small selection of local eateries and shops. The village is located in the heart of the Picos de Europa National Park, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding natural beauty.

For those travelling as a couple or seeking a peaceful retreat, the hamlets of Soto de Sajambre or Pío de Sajambre offer a more secluded experience. These smaller settlements are just a short drive from Oseja de Sajambre, providing a quiet base with stunning mountain views right from your accommodation.
When is the best time to go to Oseja De Sajambre?
The best time to visit Oseja De Sajambre is during the spring (late April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

Spring offers pleasant temperatures for outdoor activities, with the landscape becoming lush and green after the winter. It's an excellent time for hiking, as the trails are typically clear, and the waterfalls are often at their fullest. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more serene experience of the natural beauty.

Autumn provides comfortable weather and the stunning colours of the changing foliage, making it a particularly scenic time for walks and photography. The air is crisp, and it's ideal for exploring the Picos de Europa National Park without the intense heat of summer. Many local festivals also take place in the surrounding villages during this period, offering a glimpse into regional traditions.

While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be quite warm, especially at lower altitudes, and the area tends to be busier with holidaymakers.
