We spent most of our time on daily hikes and day trips-- the hiking is challenging and highly worthwhile.The town has two small groceries open every day and a couple of shops open only on the weekends. The bakery is open daily and highly worth a visit. Rekkedal farm up the road is open for dinners two or three nights a week. "While the room was clean, the bed was rather hard, so we did not always sleep well. We had an irregularly-shaped room, so my husband could not get out of bed at night without shimmying down the bed and waking me up. Otherwise, it was a beautiful property with a huge fireplace in the lobby. Breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. The high-end restaurant attached to it was incredible. We had one of the best meals of our entire 3.5 week vacation there. The less formal dining room was not as good for dinner. The klippfiske dish had an odd combination of olives and andouille sausage in it. Location was superb—very close to the Jugendstil Museum, the Fishing Museum, and an antique store."

"The location was perfect and cozy for the different activities in the area, our room was a little small sized but I guessing was our fault. The location has à la carte restaurant, the menu was different every day; the chef surprised us daily. So delicious. Super recommended"

"The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. Everything was very clean and the breakfast was very good, especially the fresh squeezed orange juice. The bathroom in the room, while beautiful, was not functional. The half door of the shower allowed water to get all over the floor. The sink was so small and the mirror stuck out so far over the sink that I could barely wash my hands let alone my face without getting water everywhere. Other than the bathroom, we enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfy and everything was well cared for."

"Views in this place are 11 out of 10. The place was spotless. The owner was awesome to work with. The only drawback is this place sits on a main road that can be noisy at times, but ONLY if you are outside. Views are outstanding. Would definitely stay here again."
