Orchard Point Tours and Activities

The great: Location! We chose this place for easy access to the beach and a few shops in the Taft district. The views are great. Love having a balcony and listening to the ocean waves at night. Vending machines with decent snack options. Front desk staff was friendly. The not so great: Upkeep of the property is lacking. Huge holes in the screen of our sliding glass door. The cold water faucet for the jetted tub didn't work. We let the front desk know and they came in to show us we have to push down on the knob while turning it. Not the end of the world but felt a bit rinky dink for what I paid for the room. The sink faucet was difficult to turn on and off without having water blast everywhere. Interesting options for breakfast: hot dog buns and breadsticks. Thank goodness for the waffle makers. Overall, the place has a lot potential to be great if they invested in better maintenance.

Things were good in general.

For the price point, this is an excellent motel. The room was spotless, the water pressure in the shower was great, huge selection of channels on the TV, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. I was particularly thrilled to see that they use real pillows with support, vs. the flimsy, worthless pillows most hotels use (even higher-end places). Even though it's on a busy road, I wasn't bothered at all by traffic noise. For me, the location was perfect because my daughter lives just down the road. Keep in mind, though, that it's a bit of drive to get to the more picturesque and/or walkable areas of Portland. You will want to have a car if you're going to stay here. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Capitaol Hill Motel again.
