Coco Beach is the only public beach and the water is beautiful. The little town has many restaurants and is walkable from many guesthouses and bungalows. A motorcycle can be rented from most places or a free bicycle is usually available.
I stayed in Ong Lang area because it seemed less busy than Long Beach. Consider using the new hop on/off bus to get to the south of the island for a good price. Metered taxies can be pricey to use all the time as means of transportation.
