Question 3

Which area of Oneonta is best to stay in for cheap hotels?

Accepted Answer

For budget-conscious solo travellers visiting Oneonta, the areas along State Route 23 (also known as Oneonta's Main Street) and near the State University of New York at Oneonta (SUNY Oneonta) offer the best options for inexpensive accommodation. These locations provide convenient access to local amenities and public transport, ensuring you can explore without overspending.

Along Main Street, you'll discover various motels and smaller hotels that frequently offer competitive rates, especially outside of peak university event seasons. This central thoroughfare puts you within walking distance of many local eateries, shops, and some of the town's more lively spots, making it easy to find affordable meals and entertainment.

The vicinity of SUNY Oneonta also presents good value. While options here might be slightly further from the immediate town centre, they often cater to visitors looking for straightforward, no-frills lodging. This area is generally quiet and provides easy access to campus facilities, which might include public sporting events or cultural activities that are often free or low-cost.

You might find better rates at local motels or guesthouses, and fewer crowds at popular spots like the Farmer's Market or local eateries.
