This home does not allow children under 13 due to the deck railings at this home.\*\*\* FOREST HOUSE is a wonderfully peaceful home to visit on beautiful Orcas Island, in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State. This one-bedroom home is situated near the north shore of Orcas with distant views toward the Salish Sea surrounding the island. Guests arrive via a one-hour ferry ride from Anacortes, Washington on the mainland. Your visit begins when you get on the ferry and leave your cares behind. This is the most unique home you will find anywhere in the Islands to rent. It has very unique architecture featuring fine wood interiors, round rooms joined by interior corridors and expansive exterior decks with water views. Look carefully at the pictures for this listing as they tell the story. Romantic, peaceful, charming, comfortable, and your hideaway for the time of your stay. Featured on King 5 Seattle Evening News when it was known as Hobbit House. Also filmed in a show called Treehouse Masters season 11, Episode 11\. Much has changed since then as the owners have lavished their care on this home. New owners are upgrading this summer so that your enjoyment of your visit can be even better. Unique attributes are the well-equipped kitchen with a four-burner gas stove with oven and a over/under refrigerator with freezer above. Countertops are hand made from wood as are several drawers. Large capacity stacked washer and dryer included for guest use. The circular living room includes a 55” wall-hung smart TV with Roku featuring Netflix and Prime Video. The under television soundbar and Blue ray DVD player complete the entertainment options. This room also has a comfortable, large sofa and sitting chair, plus easy access to the large outdoor deck environment. The main bedroom features an excellent king mattress and skylight above for that romantic evening when going to bed. The bedroom is in its own private, separate portion of the home. Reach it from the kitchen via another outdoor deck area. The tower hosts a small studio for painting or yoga on the first floor, and spiral staircase leads to a sleeping loft outfitted with a luxury queen bed. Then there is the deep soaking tub (accessed via steps) with hand-held shower attachment in its own round room between the living room and the kitchen. Across the hall is a single vanity with a custom sink and toilet together. As mentioned above, it’s all about the pictures. Because this home has been listed on TripAdvisor for the last 10 years it has over a hundred rave reviews that cannot be transferred to this listing because it is no longer on TripAdvisor. When we woke up it was a foggy morning, with the sun shining through the trees... just perfect. My only regret is that we wanted to explore Orcas, so we didn't have as much time at the Forest House as we would have liked.Bring lots of provisions and stay in for the day to truly enjoy the property. Peaceful surroundings and wonderful space to spend a few days and relax. The house includes so many fun details to discover and has everything we needed for our stay. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals, and having laundry on site was another bonus. Close enough to Eastsound to easily head in for dinner or shopping, but far enough out that you felt secluded. Out of all of the places that I rented this is the one where the pictures just do not do it justice! The place is amazing and so cool!! Coming from the city, we were dazzled at how quiet the area is day and night. Bathing in the deep tub, with the trees and morning sun, is memorable. The full-service kitchen is functional and surprisingly well-stocked. The property is wonderfully remote; be sure to stock up at the delightful grocery store in Eastsound or bring a mail-order box with meals. Pack some reading materials and also peruse the extensive collection of books and DVDs. Netflix works well on the TV and the wireless router has impressive range. The festive lights on the deck railing are a nice touch!Artists: take advantage of the charcoals and oils near the easel. Many prior renters have gifted their creations and they add to the character of the Forest House.For those of you reading reviews from previous years, there is a note about wall heaters taking time to warm up. Some of them are slow, especially in the two-story house. The portable electric radiators are a great idea and another example of the management being responsive and thoughtful. Several radiators are on site. We chose it because it looked like a perfect combination of serenity and adventure, and that’s exactly what it was. We adored the deck with the ocean views and spent most of our time out there when we weren’t exploring the island. Naps in the tower and soaks in the amazing tub were also a highlight. The only thing I missed was blinds in the bedroom. Everything else was perfection and then some. This place truly encompassed all the magic we felt on the whole of Orcas Island.
