Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Olás?
The best area to stay in Olás is the coastal village of Porto do Son, particularly around the Praia das Gaivotas and the town centre.

Porto do Son is the main hub for visitors, offering a good balance of amenities and access to the beautiful Galician coastline. The town centre, easily navigable on foot, has a selection of shops, local eateries, and a pleasant promenade along the harbour. The area around Praia das Gaivotas provides direct access to a lovely beach, superb for relaxing days by the sea.

Couples looking for a relaxed beach holiday will find Porto do Son ideal. You can enjoy strolls along the sandy beaches, dine at seafood restaurants overlooking the harbour, and explore the nearby Castro de Baroña, an ancient fortified settlement with incredible sea views. The town offers a tranquil setting without being isolated.

For families, the area close to Praia de Aguieira, just a short drive from Porto do Son, is an excellent option. This beach is known for its calm waters and expansive sands, making it suitable for children.
When is the best time to go to Olás?
The best time to visit Olás, Galicia, is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is at its finest for enjoying the region's coastal beauty and outdoor activities.

During this period, you'll find the warmest temperatures and the most sunshine, making it great for exploring the beaches and the stunning Rías Baixas coastline. The sea is also warmer, which is ideal for swimming and water sports. This is a particularly good time for couples looking for a romantic getaway or families planning a beach holiday.

For those interested in the local culture and gastronomy, late spring (May) and early autumn (October) also offer a pleasant experience with fewer crowds and comfortable temperatures.
