If you want to get along with him, you have to respect him and follow his house rules. He takes good care of his property, and he helped me a lot with tips to tours around the island. He is a good host and an excellent guide. The van nr.10, just behind Jo's house, will take you to Bridgetown in 15 min. A short walk down Gall Hill, and you are at Miami beach, a dreamy beach in Oistens. Don't expect luxury, but Jo's hostel has the perfect location in town. The room was extremely small and barely enough room to turn around. There was a shared bathroom down the hall. I intially booked my reservation for a 7 day stay; however due to the poor condition of the Hostel, I refused to stay there. I requested a cancellation and a refund, which Jo J's Hostel denied. It was a complete ripoff, they kept my money and I had to book somewhere else to stay!! Secondly, it was very clear that I was not expected as there was no one to greet me - the property manager was nowhere to be found. Thirdly, the place was unkempt with overgrown, poorly maintained shrubbery and just general untidiness. These pictures must have been from years ago as the property looks nothing like the pictures. This is the epitome of misleading and false advertising. I was out of there in a flash, and ended up having to pay $140 BBD in taxi fare alone trying to find alternate accommodation. I also had to pay another hotel $137usd for a last minute booking. The property is truly worth the price and even less.
